Found out at the last minute that Coney Island was closed the day I planned to go there.

I know some people, yeah. It's a pretty awful place, all around, but the food is great. I've been to my fair share of major metropolitan areas, in my day, but this is the only one in which I have been struck by garbage blowing on the breeze. And, as I think U know, I somehow keep running into Kurt Vile. But that has also happened to me in Chicago, so that might be some kind of cosmic thing going on.

I'm at a bar on top of a big scenic Colorado mountain and apparently Pauly Shore might show up to hang and/or snag some free shit from my little bro or something.
Like, even if he doesn't I still feel like I've hit shangrila.

Couldn't think of a better place to mention that I'm real excited to be an uncle. I keep meaning to buy some clothes 4 little Arlo (it's not a real name, I know, I'm just grateful that the father turned out not to be the guy whose Facebook subtitle was Nippletastic McNasty) but then I end up spending all my money on shitty beer instead.

That is one of the most quintessentially "greatest uncle of all time"-y posts I can imagine.

The day when U're buying him shitty or perhaps even marginally decent beer, and thus actually being the greatest uncle of all time, will be here before U know it.

I started my nephew on lambics when he was 8 and now, at 13, he regularly declines his father's offers of shitty macro lagers.

philly is one of the greatest cities in america partly because it doesn't hide the fact that it's perpetually half-broken

I looked into a pothole and could C at least 15 feet into the earth. There was flowing water down there. Certainly wouldn't trade that experience 4 anything. But it was kind of troubling to watch cars and trucks driving over and into this pothole, to be honest.

Not arguing with U, mind. I wholeheartedly endorse shitty-as-fuck cities. Apart from the times I've had to clean airborne broken glass out of my hair and eyes, I've rarely had anything but a ball in Philadelphia.

Re: Crushing it, mk. whatever
Just went 4 a solid ten mile run on the vb oceanfront followed by a little dip in the water. Then I impressed a bunch of young people by being strong and doing the makeshift ninja warrior thing they have set up on the beach (gymnastics type shit, like rings and bars and whatever. Started off just doing a post workout workout, but it became apparent that I was turning into a thing people were watching). It's sunny and 75 and now I'm drinking a Black and Tan on a bar patio. I have nothing at all to do this evening. Also just got a fb post from an ex colleague saying that the dude who took over my job is garbage, and that everybody misses me a lot.

That's sounds like an incredible day, Ned.
My marathon training is going well. Turns out that lack of exercise was probably the stumbling block that was preventing me from feeling good 4 no reason, and my jogging/push up/light weight-lifting routine has me ten pounds heavier than I was six months ago + on the verge of kind of having abs (arms haven't caught up yet)

I don't think I have marathon training in me right now but still work out almost everyday. So congrats on being able to do that. Hard to imagine 5 or 6 years ago when I was having a few drinks every night and waking up with a headache.
Now I'm slamming some seaweed juice and falling asleep by 10 each night.

I'm living my 19 year old, antisocial self, dream. Was at Gang of Four show tonight (the Faint headlined (lol)). A really cute alt girl walked up to me and started talking about my TV on the Radio shirt. We then went into some random talk about some "indie rock" bands. I don't really enjoy talking about music irl anymore, but she gave me her number and it was a huge confidence boost. I'll probably never call her.

I'm coming to terms with acknowledging that I've been depressed about a lot of stuff 4 the last few years which has really held me back from being the REAL undercooked sausage and am now trying to actively overcome those things.

I'm slowly trying to cut drinking completely except socially but it's tough! I've been the same weight and body type 4 like fifteen years now and I'd like to be in better shape.

Re: Crushing it, mk. whatever
i was briefly following a car that had a bigger than life size rear windshield decal of Rod Stewart's face.
like, it took up the entire middle third, top to bottom, of the rear window on this shitty 15+ year old Honda. was there a Pimp My Ride show for baby boomers?

Got a really good haircut yesterday.
Finally found a haircut guy who I am in a committed relationship with. I've looked better these past few months than I ever have before :handsome:
Figures I'm moving away soon.

where are you shipping off to?
update on that Rod Stewart decal story: i tried to find something like it on amazon or etsy because i wanted to know where it came from. i did not find where it came from. i do, however, get frequent rod stewart-themed sales emails from amazon now.

Re: Crushing it, mk. whatever
Remember when that girl stole thousands of dollars from me, last year? Well, it turns out she didn't steal it. Or all of it, anyway. She just took like 12 months (six since she left me) to pay me back. I received a check (lol) in the mail (LOL) for about 70% of my money, like two weeks ago. It didn't bounce. It's been made clear that I shouldn't expect the rest of my money--ever--but 70% is a hell of a lot more than 0%. So I'm choosing not to complain.
