I start a new job next week.

Half excited and optimistic, half expecting to be fired in a month for not knowing what I'm doing at all. I'm ridiculously out of practice with this stuff and I fear that it's really going to show.

i was told about five minutes ago that i'm finally getting a job. it's not exactly what i wished for when i started this odyssey many months ago, but i need to get back out there and get back on my feet. a roof and beer money, am i right?

i stopped smoking weed a week ago thinking that they might drug test me for a new job, but i've been told by the recruiters that identified me for this gig that they probably won't do that. should i celebrate this weekend by nuking my brain or should i reinforce this positive display of willpower by holding out for longer?

my emotions are swirling right now and i think i need a burrito to process this.

Less boarding from 9-5 Pacific, so probably less overall. We'll see how it goes.

I have an interview with Facebook to be a Data Scientist in Menlo Park, CA coming up in about 3 weeks. If I got the job and took it, it would allow me to run away from all of my life worries/responsibilities and make a shit ton of money while basically eating and drinking the FB Kool-Aid for a few years while I pay off all my debt and save up like a million dollars.

Well, for them the role involves specializing in a specific product area, looking at data from basically any action, activity, or metric involved with that product area, and using it to determine new product features, advertising methods, when to nix a product feature, when to buy a competitor product, etc. It could be something as simple as determining how wide the margins on your FB page is, to developing a new product feature meant to act as a Snapchat competitor ala Instagram Stories.

Also, they get paid more than bankers so thats fuckin sweet, the company must see them as important.

Contract got extended! Gonna make a few thousand extra dollars. I might celebrate by purchasing a record album of musics.

I've also somehow stumbled into becoming a part-time dog-/cat-/house-sitter. I'm really good with animals, I guess, and that's become another good source of income. Pretty cool to hang out with hounds and stuff, too. If y'all ever need a guy, say word. I'm told that my rates are good and that the beasts all speak highly of me.

Just booked what appears to be a steady summer gig of street style shots for Highsnobiety, moves being made already. Also, I'm working with a pattern maker this week and should have 2 shirts being released by July.

I just got a pretty high level new gig as a public official in a better situation making more money waaaaaay closer to home.

Using status to get top of the list on standby & catching an earlier flight is what crushing it is all about.

I ordered two couches from Ikea. They delayed the order because they were allegedly damaged in transit. When they finally came, they dropped off four couches. The delivery people did not care and told me to sell them online. I checked my credit card statement and they charged me for two. lmao

Just found my copy of Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy).  I'd been looking for it for almost exactly a year, and had recently given it up as accidentally left behind at my ex-girlfriend's place (and therefore lost for all time).  It was underneath some Misfits, Miles Davis, and various other CDs.  Thank Christ.

It isn't 100% but it is looking really good so far, I think I have secured housing in San Francisco and its a great location (Russian Hill), good price (slightly below market for neighborhood), and furnished. Will be a major stress relief once its all said and done, which should be within the next week.
