for some reason the singles for this album did not grab me at all upon initial release, but each one has revealed itself to be amazing upon listening to this LP in its totality?

things this reminds me of: the KLF, older Pet shop boys, primal scream, frankie knuckles

    RIYL good music

This sounded mostly great as a soundtrack to preparing dinner just now, but I don't recall any standout tracks, nor have a desire to hear the album in any context other than background music. Maybe the nineties are still too fresh for me to relive them.

I made a salad with baby lettuce, citrus herbs, strawberry poppyseed dressing, walnuts, orange segments, goat cheese, dried cranberries, salt & pepper. And a sausage & caramelized onion frozen pizza with a little ghee brushed on the crust.

"meet me in a house of love" is the standout here

"walking in the sky" is some of the most pitiful bullshit I've ever heard in my life, at least in context with the rest of this fabulous album. but that track threatens to annihilate all the goodwill it has built to that point. mercifully it's like 3 minutes.

otherwise, though, yeah, this thing is great, definitely a cut above zonoscope

this is the same thing the NPR review said and it's kind of a turn off to hear because Zonoscope was actually fantastic in my book

Even if I liked the album enough to buy it, I'm not paying $22 for a 2xLP that looks like this.

That new Arcade Fire record is pretty ugly too, fwiw.
