THREAD TO POST YOUR JDFF YEAR END LISTS IN

Was thinking that too. Think it's buried in a box somewhere with a Candie Payne album I'd also like to revisit.

My earliest list is 2010. Was using the notepad in my SOMB profile to keep track of this stuff and I never copied and pasted it to a word doc like an idiot.

I also listened to Thunder Lightning Strike about a month ago. My older ears cannot handle the tinny production as well anymore.

TLS was such an important album for me at the time

i'm trying to hum my favourite tune from it and i've already forgotten the title but there's no way it could be as good as it sounds in my head

I think with some ad-hoc EQ-ing the best tracks on there still hold up really well, just as long as you don't play the american version where they re-dubbed the rapping

I've been listening to that Kacey Musgraves a lot these last couple of weeks and cannot believe how good it is. It's probably my favorite album of the year.

I went looking to see if I had anything saved, and I definitely wasn't prescient enough to save the board-wide lists. I did find some ancient Word documents with completely out of context chunks of SOMB/LOPP-related text. One was called "LOPP notes" from Dec. 28, 2008 and contained the following text and nothing else:

I was in my mid to late 20s at the time and feel/felt the same. Reading those old blurbs brought back memories of when I would spend a lot of time with certain albums and makes me think I should go back and listen to a few of them. That feels like such a long time ago now.

It's truly difficult to remember a time where it felt vital to engage with music that I don't find enjoyable just to talk about it. Identity formation is an interesting thing.

Man, I can hardly find time to engage with music that I do find enjoyable.

My favorite 2020 album is probably the two things Paves released on soundcloud this summer in quick succession followed by the folder on my desktop full of like a hundred random Charli XCX songs Zappo sent me on dm.

Yes, it is. But it was also so much fun.

Spot on take Chrono. I used to force myself to listen to so much music that I really didn't care for just to have an opinion about it and be able to participate in the conversation.
