Re: Now Playing
they have been in the studio since late last year, so I would expect something this year.
certainly still the best band around. they were amazing when I saw them on the last tour in Detroit.

this album is better than anything from the Brian Jones era. Beggars Banquet does not count.

They opened with "Lucky", the place was packed and hot as hell. 2 minutes in and I was transported.
That show sold out at the same time that the dude in front of me in the line at the Dominick's Ticketmaster counter got his seats. There was no internet at home and the phone lines were of course busy and useless. One of the biggest regrets of my teenage years remains not getting tickets to that concert. Wasn't able to see them when they came back in what I think I remember was the next spring, in '98.

Seeing them on the OK Computer tour, that's some real shit. I caught the Amnesiac and Hail tours and then that thing they did right about a year before In Rainbows came out. Saw them at The Greek in Berkeley; was incredible.

I saw them supporting The Frank And Walters at Edwards in Brum in '92 and they were a fucking mess.

Holy shit I forget we used to have to wait in line at Dominicks for tickets. There was a long line for that particular show in Naperville and I was freaking out I wouldn't get them. The Dominicks employees hated the concert going crowds. A bunch of kids at 9 in the morning standing in front of their store excited to pay surcharges.

Maybe the title track is! "Dance (Pt. 1)" and "All About You" are also pretty fantastic.
Never caught the "I'm not a vegetable" band live, personally. Drag.

Re: Now Playing
I'd rather listen to the Rod Wood version of this band over any other version.
I saw them four times on the last tour of North America. They played Emotional Rescue, Worried About You, Respectable and Rocks Off. Mick Taylor joined them on Can't You Hear Me Knocking. Still a band worth seeing for sure

Listening to albums by Tycho on Youtube.
They're really boring and are somehow more annoying than relaxing.

Totally disagree. I really, really like "Dive," and the new one, while a little less compelling, is still a very nice, soothing listen. He has this groovy blend of chillwave and downtempo. Reminds me a lot of Ulrich Schnauss at times.
What's not to like?

Re: Now Playing
The production is just way too bright-sounding for my taste. The beats are too polite and the rhythms never surprise me. There's a lot of sounds and elements of things I love but it never takes any risks. I know it's supposed to be music to chill out to but it's too fast for that and I don't know what it is but it's like every part of these songs sound unnecessarily loud to me. It's not like music has to have "space" in it to be good but I would have appreciated some more of it here.
I could go on and on (or could I? sometimes people just say that when they actually have no idea what to say next at all) but I listened to Awake, The Science of Patterns and half of Past is Prologue and none of it left much of an impression on me. Maybe you'd feel the same way if you listened to this, which I really like and is maybe the best non-obvious example I can give of what I do value in this kind of post-Far Away Trains Passing By world. It's more "textured," the sounds have more "bite" and there's more variation happening from track to track, but maybe it's apples and oranges and I'm just Montana comparing everything to Pink Floyd.

Just popped in to say that I'm listening to a bunch of their Eccentric Soul releases on shuffle while driving around town. It's the best stuff ever and it makes me feel ashamed that I spend so much time listening to garbage music.
