I've found Swift's last record to be her most tolerable but yeah, still not feeling it. Hopefully I'll go the rest of my life without having what Ryan Adams did to it inflicted on me.

Worth asking for sure.

Re: Now Playing
I was under the impression that the Carly Rae album featured many of the same songwriters as Taylor's last effort. Is that not the case? Do they not sound pretty musically similar?

Re: Now Playing
Looks like one dude (Shellback) who co-wrote most of the Swift album was one of six co-writers of one song on the Jepsen album.

Re: Now Playing
I have been led to believe Swift and Jepsen are more active in their songwriting than most. Familiar faces like Dev Hynes, that dude who worked with Vampire Weekend, Sia, etc. show up though, yeah.

Re: Now Playing
I don't think I've ever heard a Justin Bieber song, but who knows? Maybe I've just forgotten. I remember reading about something which the internet confirms was called "Baby," some years ago. One of the advantages of never going out is that I almost never accidentally hear anything; also one of the disadvantages, truth be told.

Heard some grudging praise of the new one, haven't heard a note.

You guys...
I also praise the latest Rihanna effort in the 2016 musics thread.
But at this point, both Taylor and Carly seem a bridge too far for this lad. Can't say I haven't enjoyed a Selena Gomez single or two though!

I don't usually like this stuff but I've been enjoying the Snakehips song 'All My Friends' recently.

Only using her last name is weird for some reason.

I just read the whole wikipedia entry on Gomez and I'm still not sure if I've ever heard any of their songs. I think WXRT plays them?

I don't even know where I heard their name before but I know I used to get them confused with Chavez.

Re: Now Playing
An old neighbor of mine was some dude from London, and he pushed harder than you can image to get me into Gomez. Said that they were the greatest band of all time. I remember coming home, one time, and finding a stack of Gomez CDs that he had neatly stacked up outside of my door. I took them inside, kept them for a few weeks, and returned them without ever listening to them.

I tried to time my arrivals and departures so as to avoid being caught outside listening to him preach the gospel of Gomez.

It's what I do. I don't know these people, we're not on first-name basis. On this very page I referred to Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen in the same manner.Ҩ wrote:Only using her last name is weird for some reason.

Yeah, they were XRT bait for a while. When people started talking about Miguel I thought they were talking about Gomez.

If he carries on like that he's going to get himself arrested.

This sounds perfect.
35th wedding anniversary afternoon, so lots of early '80s being played - along with Scrabble and Tequila. Missus called this one, reminded me how I got snagged in the first place.

Re: Now Playing
Congrats that is an awesome way to spend an evening!
I listened to Blonde on Blonde today for the first time in a few years. Dylan was on a completely different planet on that album. Solid fucking tunes from start to finish with lyrics that are incredible.
Haven't listened to Dylan regularly for a while. Just hasn't been my thing lately but this afternoon it was raining, I was just hanging out and flipping through the CD booklet listening to that album.

I've been listening to the Witmark Demos a lot lately. It's perfect for wasting time during a rainy day like this.

I read the Pere Ubu piece on Dusted Magazine this week and now I can't stop listening to The Modern Dance. Great rock and roll album from a band I will be sure to listen to more in 2016!

Actually I might have been thinking of Guster, I really don't know.
