Re: Now Playing
Yeah, I found it because I'd heard what I guess is the only other release on the label, Franticdiagnosis by the guitarist George Freeman, which is definitely one of the more insane "jazz-funk" albums in existence. Solid label!

LOL. Same. I use torrents a lot, but most of the more obscure stuff is hard to come by. Failing that, "Google + album title + blogspot + rar zip," then click through the minefields till I've found something?petey wrote:No?

Re: Now Playing
This became a lot more difficult four years ago or something. Too many dead links now.Ned Braden wrote:"Google + album title + blogspot + rar zip,"
For a while I was on a private torrent tracker for more obscure albums, but got banned for being unable to maintain a non-shitty ratio.
I've been relying on the program Soulseek for pretty damn close to 100% of all music downloads for a while now. The Mac client I had years ago got all buggy and unusable, so I didn't bother for a long time, but tried out a new one after the private torrent site thing was no longer an option. I've only ever heard of it through various SOMB posters circa the mid-'00s, oddly...most of whom were PC users, I'm pretty sure. But this version of the program has been running on my Mac just spiffily.

Re: Now Playing
Though I've had a lot of trouble with the newer builds of the latest client. Still haven't quite figured out what went wrong. I'd recommend a PC build from before June of last year, but who knows? Maybe it's just me.

Re: Now Playing
The only thing I've ever not found on Soulseek was some song by The Monks which was released on cassette in an edition of like six copies and possibly/probably does not even exist.

Re: Now Playing
Some dude on slsk has been downloading 1.5TB of music off me for the last year. I'm presuming he clicked "download folder" on a single file.

I kind of admire his refusal to fix/admit he made the mistake.

Re: Now Playing
I'm not entirely sure, but I think that the most recent version would probably be fine. My recent issues have been real (and they're driving me nuts, for sure), but I think that they're very much the exception to the rule. And the rule is that Soulseek works really well for pretty much everybody.

Re: Now Playing
Seriously the first time I've had any kind of problem in like 12 years. So even for me, the Soulseek batting average remains at .900+.

Re: Now Playing
Not the actual cassette or MFSL CD, mind you.
I'm most into this Joe Walsh album, although "Move Around" and "She Swallowed It" are choice cuts, among others.

all his own productions...best thing from the Giegling camp since the Kettenkarussell album a couple of years back.
His EP from earlier this year is beautiful too.

My reading is that attention from Gawker Media will lead to its downfall shortly.

Re: Now Playing
A man can dream, can't he? I'll even take individual songs of a similar quality, at this point. I tried to listen to that Taylor Swift album. That's a mistake I can't ever undo. Courageously unbearable.
