Does anybody ever call you Daromir Dagr?
Seems like a no brainer nickname.

That dude is still playing hockey?
From the desecrated remnants of my once-vast childhood sports card collection, I still have his rookie card somewhere. It's probably worth all of $5 or something now.

How do hockey connoisseurs feel about 3-on-3 overtime?

Re: Hockey Talk 2015-2016
I'm liking it… tons of open ice maximises action and the chance for high quality scoring attempts. I guess the thrill will probably wear off after a few months, but it was fun watching the end of the Hawks game tonight.
What it seems to be doing right now is decreasing the chance of games going to shootouts, which is what I imagine has done the most to make it popular with the hardcore fans. I think I read somewhere that something like 75% of games going to 3 on 3 have ended before going to the shootout, as opposed to… some much lower percentage from 4 on 4s of years' past.

No, but it would be pretty cool if they started.reuben wrote:Does anybody ever call you Daromir Dagr?

Excited about the season starting but I won't be able to pay attention at all until the baseball season comes to an end. I watched some of the game today tho. They looked good. Happy that the Bruins are guaranteed to suck this year.
Excited about Lucic going to the Kings because now my hatred of those two things does not have to be mutually exclusive anymore.

I've seen Ottawa play 3-on-3 OT three times and they've gone to the shootout each time anyway.

I saw Jonathan Toews play 1-on-3 last night in OT and win the game in 10 seconds..

I really hope Jagr's not seriously injured. Would like nothing better then to see him keep up this Hart trophy pace at 43.
On a happier note, this ongoing trainwreck is hilarious:
Ducks blow 3-0 lead, lose to Stars, Boudreau hot seat goes nuclear

Re: Hockey Talk 2015-2016
Not a lot of activity in the thread this year... I watched that Sens game. Glad to see that they are playing well this year. Kane's point streak is exciting. Going to the game tonight against Nashville. Go Hawks!
I haven't watched enough hockey this year so I have a couple questions from just looking at the standings.
1) Is Dallas really this good and are they officially favorites to come out of the West?
2) Is Anaheim this bad? What is the possibility of them missing the playoffs entirely? Same thing with the Lightning? Both teams were favorites to win the Cup this year...

Re: Hockey Talk 2015-2016
There is so much negativity on Sens twitter this season it's kind of taking all the fun out of the game.
From what I've seen and understand with Dallas, they're really good offensively but a mess on defense. Kind of like Ottawa. I've only seen them play Ottawa though so I'm not really sure.

Re: Hockey Talk 2015-2016
The Hawks looked really good last night although they did depend on Crawford a little too much. Had a really fun time. UC went nuts when Kane scored the empty netter to keep the streak alive and seal the game.
As for sports fandom negativity, I've been reading a lot of the Chicago Bulls reddit page this year. It's so funny how whiny the fans are. I hate some of the people so much that I kind of laugh when the Bulls predictably crumble at the end of games just so I can listen to them bitch and complain after.
So I know what you mean, it does take away from the actual games.

I guess we'll see how this pans out.
Really haven't been watching enough hockey this year. I think my folks are getting me a sling box for Christmas though!

Re: Hockey Talk 2015-2016
There seem to be a lot of intriguing stories lines developing this year.
- The Florida Panthers are good and the natural ageing process does not apply to Jagr.
- When the Habs don't have Carey Price they get exposed as a woefully mediocre team.
- The Blackhawks second line is ridiculous.
- The Capitols are probably the best team in hockey.
- The Lightning are still struggling but could make the playoffs. The Ducks are fucking terrible.
What am I missing? The Kings are gonna be back into the playoffs and need to do something this year because it sounds like they are gonna have to dump some key pieces over the offseason. What is going on with Ottawa? They have been up and down all year. I only watched them once this year (against the Blackhawks) and they looked good. I need to watch more hockey but I've been super busy.
