the 808 cowbell is a staple of Northern California hip-hop production going back many many years. producers like Iamsu! and P-Lo continue to feature it prominently in a lot of songs, a trick everyone learned from DJ Fresh.

it's one of my absolute favorite sounds and i wish producers in general were more adventurous in experimenting with different sonics like that.

one of the best albums ever with one of the best covers ever makes the best feelings



a true 9.5 of a record. songs like "Pass this On" and "You Take My Breath Away" and "This is Now" are true tracks to cry to.

i've been waiting years to get more into The Knife and the eve of the new album has been a good time to do that.

Love the new Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album. The whole Grinderman persona and even Dig Lazerus Dig were not how I prefer Cave. He's back making dramatic ballads that would probably bore the shit out of many of you.

Thanks Nick, I'll check it out. Give me The Boatman's Call over Grinderman any day.

First day in a while where I have nothing to do and my roommate is gone all day. So I have been freaking out Joe Cocker-style to all this shit in my dorm.

Will probably put on that Joe McPhee album and maybe some Melvins or Bongripper to end the night.
