I'm seriously considering hitting Best Buy tomorrow to purchase the latest cd releases from Black Sabbath and Robin Thicke.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
I bought Songs For Slim last week at a record store in Springfield IL. I just listened to it for the first time this morning and felt like I was going to start crying during the Gordon Lightfoot cover.
The rest of it doesn't inspire me to listen to any of the solo material from Paul, Tommy or Chris to challenge my claim that Chinese Democracy is the best thing any of these guys have done in the past 25 years.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
don't know how i feel about this
it's okay and i am compelled to play it more than once in a row. not what i expected to be listening to this afternoon though.

That's definitely a Franz Ferdinand song. Jim DeRogatis fan forum 2005 single of the year winners!

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
Yeah, I'm not sure I could go back and listen to Tonight (or even You Could Have It So Much Better) now, but I was excited about their evolution in 2009. He's even reverted back to his old haircut.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
just try listening to the other new song that's out
this shit is maddeningly simple and yet there's something clean and refined about it (as their always is with FF)

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
I agree, Nick - kinda like Burial (a simplistic but obvious RIYL) but without all the subtlety and nuance and ~~feelings~~ that makes Burial so extra spesh.
On the other hand I've been finding the new Blondes LP a lovely workout soundtrack this week!
Prefer the first of the FF songs (which was produced by some of the Hot Chip guys), I'll listen to a new album by them.

This After Dark 2 mix is cool. Probably something for Yancy's Jukebox.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
jon hopkins doesnt sound like burial at all but w/e
iirc the back half when it goes all eno on our asses is p good
the blondes lp2 sounded p great when i bandcamp'd it
after dark 2 has some extraordinary moments but i'm not quite as smitten with it as most dudes out there
listening to the walton album on hyperdub and it basically rules

I like the Disclosure album!
Have recently been developing the opinion that the Rudimental album (which is similar) is perhaps even better!

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
also there have been droves of amazing singles from the UK this year in that house-pop vein - black butter, PMR and numbers are some labels leading the way

that Rudimental track comes off as pretty corny and unimaginative DnB, not into it unfortunately

this is one of the other great Disclosure songs that is now very old because it came out as a single 9 months ago

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
I've been enjoying this Disclosure album quite some bit, and the two songs Chrono posted are perhaps two of my favorite on the album. I would like to hear some of this album in a club setting too, and get my WW on.
