Sometimes I'll think about internet personality Pistaschio Medley and how quietly but profoundly disappointed I was the day he changed his avatar from a tacky suit and shoe combo into just literally a pile of nuts.

They are posting their favourite albums of the year. Saw two that had the new Beck in top five.

Re: JDFF
I miss the innocent days of posting crazy with a bunch of crazies on that old forum. It’s too bad a lot of the posters that used to post on here hardly come by as well.
Looking back, somb was a pretty cool outlet for me and other closet weirdos to express ourselves in different ways.
I go off and on on other forums nowadays and none of them compare for me, but times have changed in my life and for the state of boarding as well in my opinion.
I probably have a lot more to say about this but a lot of it is probably personal and superfluous.

You guys remember the “music to take a shit to” thread and Paves posted Dead and Bloated by STP? I think about that at least a couple times a month.

No kidding, I have thought about that thread and those posts nearly every time I've taken a shit for, like, the last ten years. Not every time. But pretty close.

Do I need to get a Face Book account to see what you're talking about here? Because I'm looking at this webpage and I don't see anything about that.

Re: JDFF
Sorry for the confusion, on the sound ops FB group a guy posted about this man being missing and said he was a poster on the message board. This link I just dug up myself to post here. I could ask the person on FB who he was but don’t want to out myself lol.

I watched this while having my coffee this morning.

Churchburners was someone on JDFF playing metal with his son, I think? I dug through the SOMB Sounds compilations on my hard drive (official and unofficial) and all the random tracks I archived from back then (because of course I did) but there is nothing from Churchburners anywhere to be found.
None of this sounds like metal but it has to be the same person. Releases are tagged with Rockford and Dekalb.

Re: JDFF
I just scrolled back through this thread and it directed me to the sound opinions fb page and I shit you not the most current post is about “Pull Shapes” by the Pipettes.
I missed out on golden era somb and I was and still am way too much of a scatter brained Luddite to have ever properly saved or even dug through all the archives, but I really enjoy the experience of living that moment only through the echoes of the past, in names like St Park and Hickman and coolrock, in vague memories of hilarious troll posting avatars likely generated by Paves and Sausage (James Iha, LOL), or in memories of like 5 straight pages of Nazi ephemera re-purposed as an out-of-left field birthday gift for a beloved/disliked/infamous/weird personality that I certainly didn’t understand at the time, and likely wouldn’t now. These echoes were probably already post golden era, but they are what I remember about that place. That and mediafire-ing zips of Clap ur Hands Say Yeah albums and voicing decidedly unsound opinions about whatever Condé Nast’s thing du jour was at any given moment. I wish the best to this batch of weird idiots, and especially the ones who seemed like genuinely good folks. I remember writing quite a few “serious” reviews of albums I heard twice and that was actually a fucking wonderful experience that helped me with life, odd as that sounds.
^ I don’t remember this one bit, but it made me smile.
This was not commented on at the time, but wow:
