Sometimes I'll think about internet personality Pistaschio Medley and how quietly but profoundly disappointed I was the day he changed his avatar from a tacky suit and shoe combo into just literally a pile of nuts.

I miss the innocent days of posting crazy with a bunch of crazies on that old forum. It’s too bad a lot of the posters that used to post on here hardly come by as well.

Looking back, somb was a pretty cool outlet for me and other closet weirdos to express ourselves in different ways.

I go off and on on other forums nowadays and none of them compare for me, but times have changed in my life and for the state of boarding as well in my opinion.

I probably have a lot more to say about this but a lot of it is probably personal and superfluous.

You guys remember the “music to take a shit to” thread and Paves posted Dead and Bloated by STP? I think about that at least a couple times a month.

I make a little extra $$$ on the side doing data entry from home for someone I know in academia

I wouldn't be able to do this if I hadn't compiled a couple of polls on JDFF a decade ago. This is still nothing compared to managing the best video games poll that we did there.

Sorry for the confusion, on the sound ops FB group a guy posted about this man being missing and said he was a poster on the message board. This link I just dug up myself to post here. I could ask the person on FB who he was but don’t want to out myself lol.

I watched this while having my coffee this morning.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-EEAPHnBGo&t=304s

    https://greentapebandcamp.bandcamp.com/album/happy-trails-to-you

one off recording session with members of Mayflower,Treefrogs,Churchburners in the basement of 320. dekalb illinois. spring of 2005

Churchburners was someone on JDFF playing metal with his son, I think? I dug through the SOMB Sounds compilations on my hard drive (official and unofficial) and all the random tracks I archived from back then (because of course I did) but there is nothing from Churchburners anywhere to be found.

None of this sounds like metal but it has to be the same person. Releases are tagged with Rockford and Dekalb.

    Green Day – American Idiot
    (233 Points, 19 Votes, One #1 Vote)

so its teh year 2054 n teh clasic pop punk groups had to figure how tehey'd keep up to date n stil be in touch w/"teh kids." (w/rock not liek pedophile shit...lol...n teahts not a stab @ michael, im just a litle bit pyscho, i get a litle out of control w/my reviews,,,lol j/k) now, teh offspring and otehrs fell off n shit but green days come back sucesfuly w/there fourth album "dont wanna be an american itdiot." basicly where tehy used to have songs which were realy good for looking @boobs and graduatning from 8th grade now 4 example theyve got shit liek teh first hit single from thias album "dont wanna be anx amaerican idiot," wich teh video may look liek theyre just getting "slimed", sum u cants do that on television shit, but acutally its more about politics n shti, n as u may know tehre was an eelction this year so taht was a very "hot topidc" they touched on. neway another important thig about "dont wanna be an american sidiont is taht its an "opera," w/a shit load of long ass songs. but no tehre arent any weairdass fat ladies w/horns on tehre heads here, b/c this is a fucnikng rock opera and by kmaking it billy joel armbstrong, tre coll, and teh bass player have become teh new milenium (scuse me,,,wilennium...will2k lol)_ versin of bad ass opera rocklers liek teh who and andrew loid weber. basicly i would recomend this to any of my felow "sound oppinions mesage board" budies who liek music b/c u will be rocked. -Jerkass

I just scrolled back through this thread and it directed me to the sound opinions fb page and I shit you not the most current post is about “Pull Shapes” by the Pipettes.

I missed out on golden era somb and I was and still am way too much of a scatter brained Luddite to have ever properly saved or even dug through all the archives, but I really enjoy the experience of living that moment only through the echoes of the past, in names like St Park and Hickman and coolrock, in vague memories of hilarious troll posting avatars likely generated by Paves and Sausage (James Iha, LOL), or in memories of like 5 straight pages of Nazi ephemera re-purposed as an out-of-left field birthday gift for a beloved/disliked/infamous/weird personality that I certainly didn’t understand at the time, and likely wouldn’t now. These echoes were probably already post golden era, but they are what I remember about that place. That and mediafire-ing zips of Clap ur Hands Say Yeah albums and voicing decidedly unsound opinions about whatever Condé Nast’s thing du jour was at any given moment. I wish the best to this batch of weird idiots, and especially the ones who seemed like genuinely good folks. I remember writing quite a few “serious” reviews of albums I heard twice and that was actually a fucking wonderful experience that helped me with life, odd as that sounds.

Little Neddy goes to war wrote:Looking back on it, if that board is indeed dead, I am very happy about my last action as a poster which was to auto embed the "Who Let the Dogs Out" YouTube in the Dogs Wearing Sunglasses thread.

^ I don’t remember this one bit, but it made me smile.

This was not commented on at the time, but wow:
