If Saturday's events are a guide, then perhaps not too well!

In general though I'd think they'd play off each other well. Franklin worked in tandem with Roughead for years at Hawthorn very successfully. Franklin is also more of a run-up-the-ground sort of guy than Tippett who fits a classic full forward mould.

My commiserations. Mostly boring game from an objective observer's perspective, though sometimes it is nice to watch rampaging teams like that in full flight. Hawthorn dismantled Sydney almost as scarily as Sydney did North last week.

I was at the Hawthorn / Port game last weekend and that was a game worthy of grand final status.

Can't say I enjoyed watching the Hawks complete the three-peat but It warmed my heart to see an outstanding indigenous player take the Norm Smith.

I've found the treatment of Goodesy really hard to stomach this season. Still love this game though.

I realize it’s an entirely different sport but didn’t want to start a new thread about the Rugby World Cup. All the matches are on Peacock in the US. I’m going to watch all of them and be the weird American guy that spends the next month telling people I’m really into rugby.

Watched Italy earlier and now watching Ireland vs Romania. Some big dudes out there!

Rugby is fucking rad and if I had the time to actually get into a sport, that's one on the short list. British Naval Attache to the US that I hang out with all the time is a former chair of Royal Navy Rugby, so he's got some sea stories.

I played for a bit back in my operational navy days... we had a team during our carrier deployment circa 2009. One of the most fantastic things I discovered about rugby is that, no shit, no matter what random ass port you pull into, there will always be a team of random ass ex pats who've gotten together and formed a team. And they're always down to play a match with a bunch of Navy randos then crush a bunch of beers afterwards. It's a true brother/sisterhood (we had some dames on the team and they were the classiest of top notch navy broads), and it's something I'm glad to have had an experience with.

On Romania.... ouch. That didn't go great for them. But I'm gonna be movin' on out there next year! I'll be living in Bucharest. As of now I know like 16 words in Romanian so... baby steps.

Kinda surprised by the lopsided matches thus far. The South Africa vs Scotland match has been low scoring but RSA have pulled away now.

Wales vs Portugal going on right now and is a lot of fun to watch. Crazy seeing countries like Samoa and Tonga competing at such a high level despite being smaller countries.

The Ireland vs RSA match was fucking great!!! Felt like as important and intense sporting contest you could watch.

Much needed after England won by 70 and France by 90 lol.

Alright I am out on the Rugby World Cup. There are like 3 or 4 good teams from what I can tell and 98% of the matches are blow outs.

This is like watching international soccer matches when Spain plays Faroe Islands.
