Watching Drew Miller almost lose an eye was pretty scary but he's going to have a pretty sick scar.

That gif is reminding me that apparently Rob Ford is a member of the hockey hall of fame board of directors now. So that's awesome.
I'm pulling for you guys Reub. Would love to see Ottawa in the playoffs.
Hawks are baffling these last few weeks, but if they put on the correct game faces and especially if Kane gets back healthy, I still like their chances.

So happy about this. I'm not even close to being over that series, last year. Fuck the Kings.

I just realized there's a good chance the Isles can eliminate the Rags in game 4 or 6 of the second round at the Coliseum

P.K. Subban is hockey's biggest villain, right?

It's fun to watch him play but he's such a goddamned brat. Vicious or reckless two-handed slash, and his second of the night. Then he throws a temper tantrum in the hallway.
I don't know, is Cooke still considered a villain? He should be. The biggest villain is probably the department of player safety, to be honest.

Haha no I read a newyorker(?) article about him awhile ago and saw the slashing thing yesterday so I was just curious.

Re: Hockey Talk mk. 2014-15
He comes across as really likeable in that article. And in videos like this:
And I think his "don't give a fuck" attitude definitely comes from the thick skin he had to grow to overcome the bigotry he's experienced in every step of his career.
But he needs to play with more discipline. He has so much skill but gets rattled really easily and takes some really cheap shots, including that slash that injured Ottawa's best forward and took him out of this series.
This article is a pretty good explanation about the slash and why it was so reckless. I mean, any slash is reckless and shouldn't be allowed in the game, but this was particularly egregious.
And also statements like this:
Although I think Gill's comments also are indicative of a "play the right (ie white) way" attitude that some--predominantly older--players and fans still have.
I would say he's more of a clown that a villain right now. He hasn't ended anyone's career like Cooke or Bertuzzi. He's not a total piece of shit like Marchand. He brags about farting in the goal crease.

show that he hasn't really grown up since his rookie yearFor a Habs fan, Subban's actions are gravely disappointing. This is a person who would have welcomed the captaincy of the Canadiens. This entire incident - from the slash that put his team a man down for 5 minutes to the half-dressed tantrum he threw after being tossed - suggests he still has some maturing to do. This is not how leaders behave. If Subban wants to be a captain one day, he needs to act like a professional.
Brash Montreal Canadiens rookie defenceman P.K. Subban, who has played all of 49 NHL games, might be rubbing his older teammates the wrong way.
Tension between Subban and veteran blueliner Hal Gill appeared to surface Tuesday after the rookie scattered his equipment around the dressing room, which gave the impression he was treating the equipment staff like servants.
Noticing what was happening, Gill picked up Subban's jersey and handed it back to him, saying, "You're an a--hole, P.K."

Re: Hockey Talk mk. 2014-15
But he also does things like this which are incredible:
reuben wrote:Sports Illustrated wrote:In his first NHL game, a 3--2 loss in Philadelphia in February '10, Subban challenged towering Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger, perhaps the nastiest player of his generation, during a scrum at the end of the third period. "He's got one guy in one hand and one guy in another," Subban says. "I come right in the middle, grab him and say, 'Let him go, let him go.' And he didn't say anything. I say, 'I'm not scared of you.' He says, 'God, your breath stinks. Can you get out of here?' " Subban takes a swig of sparkling water and continues the story. "Next night we're playing them in Montreal. The puck gets rimmed out of the zone on a power play, and I'm in front of the Philly bench. I stop just before the red line, getting ready to rim it back around after our forwards tag up. As I'm winding up I look over, and the player coming out of the [penalty] box is Pronger. All I see coming over my shoulder is orange. He's coming to kill me. So I follow through with my shot and as I recoil, I kinda duck down over my right shoulder and slip out of a check as he starts to throw it. He trips over my back leg and falls into the boards face-first. As I'm backing away, I see [Flyers wing] Ian Laperrière, and he's got a funny face, like, Oh, my God. And I'm laughing and Pronger's yelling, 'You bailed! You bailed!' If you can believe, the words out of my mouth were 'Suck it, Prongs.' "

Cooke is still considered a villain for sure because he is one. PK's great. Everybody takes a jerk ass penalty once in a while.

How do people other than hockey players stay up late enough to watch a 3 OT first round playoff game? I went to bed at the start of the third period and first thing I saw on the local news scroll was the result of the game.

I am far more dedicated to watching playoff games than to being useful at work. Was a zombie for most of this morning.

I don't think I can watch the game tonight guys. I'm not ready for my heart to be broken.
