If he doesn't blow by someone and dunk at least twice in Game 2 I'm gonna lose my shit.

    Durant is good

the Lakers "young talent" are legitimately some of the most overrated players in the league and all of the mental gymnastics about how "LeBron + these young players can compete in the West" is unbelievably wishful thinking.

if LeBron went to LA and they didn't add another superstar or two they would get clobbered by 4-5 teams in the West. i would be surprised if a lineup of Lonzo, Kuzma, Ingram, LeBron and whoever could even beat the Jazz.

Paul George strikes me as the type of player who cares a lot about the narrative about whether he's an "elite player" and "competing for championships" while actually not caring about much except chillin and getting paid. OKC and teaming with Westbrook is the perfect place to convince the media/public you're a "winner" while playing under limited pressure and having no realistic shot at winning anything.

My armchair psychology at its finest.

Fuck the Thunder forever and enjoy the 5th seed and getting bounced in the first round in perpetuity.

At this point the NBA needs to move away from the east/west nature of the playoffs/finals. I’m totally mad that my team is on the losers side and might be for a few years but the west is just stacked. Philly and Boston may be the only contenders next year... I have no hope for the raps or wizards...

I see some overreacting on Twitter about how GSW has ruined the league but I think it’s the exact opposite. It’s fascinating to watch this talented group play together & having a coach as likable as Kerr leading them makes it hard for me to root against them.

This super team was a CP3 injury away from not going to The Finals so the invincibility is maybe a bit overstated. LBJ leaving Cleveland means we can move on from that era & see if a healthy Boston or maturing Philly can pose a challenge.

The NBA is closing in on the NFL as a 12 month a year sport and I think that is a good thing.

Cousins will be making the same salary that Nick Young made for us last year, the mid-level exception.

My deep analysis is that change will be helpful in next year's postseason.

Nick, does the Cousins trade effect your last post?

He wants a championship. His injury won’t effect his play too much because he was already slow. I think the money is about getting on the team to wiN. The Warriors did have an All Star vacancy in the five spot so I guess it’s a perfect fit!

No. A sport whose regular season is a total of sixteen games has never been, is not, and never will be a "12 month a year sport." That doesn't make any sense.

What do people think of the LaVine deal?

What Nick is referring to is the amount of attention and viewership non-game NFL-related content gets. The NFL is America's most popular sport and meaningless events like the combine, draft, offseason news shows, fantasy preview shows, etc. get big ratings. Sports channels talk about the NFL almost every single day despite the fact that meaningful games are almost never played. That's why sports pundits developed the idea of the "12 month a year sport".

The NBA in the past few years has managed to successfully create buzz and excitement about non-important events and games like the draft and Summer League. They are emulating the NFL's 12 month media saturation strategy. And it's working.

Absolutely not a fan of one-way players like LaVine and Booker, especially when they've never demonstrated their skills transfer to a winning system.

I understand why teams make these deals (on some level they need to fill out the roster and put butts in the seats), but they won't help them win anything.

The Suns and Bulls front offices are pretty widely known to be dumb as hell, so it's not surprising that they're just throwing money at what's in front of them rather than thinking outside the box and having a coherent player development strategy.

Undo, did you follow the D.Rose/Griezmann World Cup stuff/Tweet?

I haven't seen a good explanation for why Griezmann became obsessed with Rose, other than being a massive basketball fan in like 2011 and him rooting for another short dude.
