Awful. All the "good" injury luck they used to have (Curry's old-time constant injuries, while obviously terrible for him, allowed this team to be assembled and afforded; intentionally killing Kawhi and not having to face Tony Parker; playing a Cavaliers team whose second-best player was, by a country mile, Matthew Dellavedova; Chris Paul suddenly going down; Mike Conley and Tony Allen; and so forth) suddenly turned around in the most gruesome, stomach-turning fashion. If nothing else, I think the Warriors can look forward to again reaping the first benefit that I mentioned--they'll be able, should they choose to do so, to bring these still-great (even if not quite as great, but we'll see; I wouldn't bet against these mo'fuckers) players back at a bargain. This is a horrible, horrible, horrible situation, but maybe it'll eventually lead to at some some good for them...?

And yes. That's correct. It is arguably the single greatest that I have ever seen. It works on several thousand levels.

I wanted the Warriors to win because I enjoy dynasties and see how long awesome athletes can make them last. I’ve loved watching this Warriors team and am super bummed about these injuries.

But the Raptors are worthy, fascinating champions. Kawhi emerged in these playoffs as the best player in the league and Pascal Siakam is fucking incredible. The NBA is so much fun and driven by superstars so it sucks when these injuries occur.

I don’t know why but I love that they lost so Draymond would have to revisit his stupid comments when they were down 3-1. It isn’t a shock at all that he and KD had issues. He’s a quintessential asshole and it’s always fun when those guys have to eat shit. He basically ate it with a smile, go figure. Klay going down was terrible... when they showed the replay I knew it was bad but props to the dude for shooting 2 free throws and running back up the court before leaving. Knowing that it’s a torn ACL only furthers this guy as an unsung legend imo. Fred Van Vleet, Don’s third nephew, was incredible last night too. That he got way better after his kid was born is just, tears. Dads know. I hope he continues getting better. Is it normal for a person to leave the Finals MVP trophy at the press conference? Kawhi is the best. His play, his lack of complaining, his demeanor, The best.

Curry is better imo and I'm 100% serious about it.

Kawhi's defense dips when he handles the ball as much as he did this series and offensively he still has limitations. A deadly isolation player, but he doesn't improve team offense nearly as much as Curry.

I admire the Raptor's decision and ability to exploit the physical aspect of the game and turn the Finals into a gladiatorial death match. The outcome was horrible for us and it's horrible that so many players bodies were sacrificed in defeat, but the Raptors were smart to play rugby and see if the refs would stop them.

Just as there are no asterisks on the Warriors 3 titles, there's none here. There's no such thing as asterisk titles. Congrats to the Raptors, who I have no interest in saying anything good about on a public forum.

(why) do people actually like/listen to Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman?

I mean I also realize there's a huge contingent of sports fans who kind of hate Bill Simmons for various reasons, which is not an opinion I share. In fact I really like him so I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion but...

I know they're really good at being ESPN Personalities but I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe that's actually a worthless achievement and something that's bad for sports and culture? Like, why do these guys get to drive the narrative every week and get to have the most loudly blasted hot takes, like they know more about the sport than the former players that are sitting across from them, etc

Just searching for stephen smith durant on Youtube, trying to filter the results by over the past month or the past week, it takes minutes and minutes of scrolling through the results to find anything at all that's older than 2 or 3 days...but I'm certain there's footage of him calling Durant selfish or soft or a bad teammate or even worse for sitting out all the games that he did.

I mean, all these commentators who are shaking their head over how sad the whole situation is...am I imagining things or didn't they make it happen as directly as they possibly could?

It's amazing what a competent head of basketball operations with a clear vision, strong talent evaluation, and a deep understanding of the CBA can do for a franchise.

David Griffin is a wizard. Fuck that dude for helping LeBron and Ty Lue win a chip lol.

So desperate for New York and LA to be perennial contenders. Their contempt for flyover country is so transparent, the thought of having to spend more than a day in it, let alone even stare in its general direction, feels like a living hell.

Perhaps I'm not so different but it's not because I think I'm entitled to schmooze with the stars like these douchebags

Don’t know if you guys have watched any Summer League games but the way they are turning Tacko Falls actual name into a running taco gag is why the world hates America. It was darkly funny when an announcer asked how he was named and he says, “I’m named after a family friend who was killed.” The announcer looked like they wanted to do another long running taco gag, run south of the border!

The Dennis Rodman 30for30 was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. Very insightful, specifically regarding his childhood. I also completely forgot that he and Madonna were a couple for a bit when he was on the Spurs. Arguably made him what he was on the Bulls. I could say more but I think you guys should watch it then we can talk about it.

I actually watched 30 minutes of that on break at work last night and I really hope to see the rest of it someday. No idea when or where that will happen or what ESPN now does with these specials after they've aired.

They're all aggregated on the ESPN+ platform now. $4.99/mo and you can watch pretty much every special presentation ESPN has ever, uh, presented.
