Yeah chalk it up to great scouting by Boston.
I guess MacLean uses him in the shootout as an reward for his effort, but I don't think this is going to happen twice:

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/Western/Central/Chicago.htmlClosetOfExhaustion wrote:there are 48 games in the 2013 NHL regular season. the blackhawks have 39 pts through 21 games.
last year, there were 82 games. the team with the fewest amount of points to make the playoffs had 92. This is a ratio of 1.12:1 (pts:games). If this same threshold for points:games held true for 2013, it would take about 54 points to make the playoffs.
The hawks are then only 15 points away from most likely securing their spot in the playoffs. At the rate they're earnings points, they could score the amount needed for the 8th playoff spot after game 29.
This would have them "virtually" making the playoffs after only 60% of their season.

That was some final minute of OT. Kane's shoot out goal was a weird balance of almost totally fucking it up to making it an awesome finish.

Either Kane has incredible patience on the shootout or I'm just used to seeing it treated like something a shooter wants to get over with asap.
Like if he faced a goaltender who didn't flinch how much further could he slow it down?

Are Quenneville, Therrien and MacLean really the mid-season frontrunners for the Jack Adams?

If not for Crosby, I think Kane would be front runner for the Hart.

Reuben, did you see this interview?

Pretty perfect fare for the lopp2 wife and kids, disenfranchised with the young whipper snappers, crowd.

Make sure you invite young guys if you’re gonna go out. If your wife allows you. If they’re going to go out for a couple beers after the game. Go out there once in a while with them. (If your wife allows you?) Yeah, if your wife allows you. Mine’s pretty good about allowing me to – not on a gamely basis, but to go out every now and then and have a couple beers with them. Bow out before they get after it too hard, but show that you’re still a part of the team. Try and get the message out that it’s alright to go out and have a good time and enjoy the game. As long as you treat it like it’s a job the next day.”

I bet Jagr can still go toe to toe with the young guys on a night out.

It's purely in my imagination I'm sure, but I keep thinking that "goofy looking faces on big toothed, overly tan white guys featuring Chris Chelios and Richard Perry" was something we talked about in a thread.

Chelios and Heatley are the guys the wife won't let you go out with ever.
I don't remember having that discussion but I'm a middle aged dad so there's a lot I don't remember.

Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
According to SI, Boucher lost his job because of the Sens:
si.com wrote:The Lightning also had injury problems this year, forcing the team to rely heavily on minor leaguers to fill roles they weren’t quite ready to assume. Most seasons, that’s something that gets taken into account when considering a coach’s effectiveness. But this year, with Ottawa’s Paul MacLean guiding the Binghamton Senators (with a few NHLers sprinkled in) to a playoff spot in the East, Boucher’s results were easier to criticize. It’s probably no coincidence that his demise came after shortly being beaten by MacLean’s undermanned but overachieving Sens on Saturday afternoon.
Oh, and why are they overachieving? Take a look at what Ben Bishop and Robin Lehner–Ottawa’s second- and third-stringers–are giving them in goal.

Still though, doesn't make the Hawk's streak or the Sens overachieving any less
