i was given my grandfather's grey wool coat, similar to this photo, for xmas. it needs to be slimmer to fit me properly, so i'll need to get it adjusted.

Does anyone know any decent trousers that are like, not denim, but still casual enough that you couldn't wear them to a funeral. Not really big on the chino collection I'm seeing on Jcrew.

Unbranded selvedge chinos might be more your speed. Cut like jeans, heavy 13oz sanforized cotton in beige, navy, or black.

Indeed. I was wondering if anyone chose to go that route and how broken in they are.

Have not tried them.
Assuming most of the board is not following but maybe wrong; anyone have any favorites from New York Fashion Week so far?

I finally have some money in my pockets again so this thread will be seeing a reviving shortly. There is a fairly new Maison Kitsune shop near my work that is dangerous, for example. I don't like how brand-heavy they went this season, though I do like the childish fox sweater which is really comfortable too.
They will prob never hit the highs of the fall/winter '12 season again imo.

Do any of you fuck with Camo pants? I don't know if I can pull it off. Worried I might look like GI Joe gone all wrong.

No. I never really understood wearing camouflage outside of a war zone. I guess conceptually I like the idea of camo in an urban scenario but in practice I think it looks really stupid.

No way camo pants would work on me. Nick could pull them off from a physique standpoint, but maybe a little too well. Between your build & haircut, could definitely look GI Joe... which is not the worst way to pick up blondes in Naperville.

Comments in this thread have kept me from purchasing a pair of Camo slim fit cargo on Denim & Supply. Most sites the feedback is split down the middle. People either love or hate the look.
Can't deny that Naperville bitches would be all about this look though.

I tried hard to dress really nice this morning but nothing was working.
I know I could always turn to you guys for help but I don't know if I want to reveal the depths of my fashion ignorance here or not. I do feel like I'm turning a corner that I should have like 10 years ago, though.

Re: Clothes houndz.
I'm just trying to wear a collared shirt under a sweater but damn it looks so messy and is not achieving the effect I'm looking for at all.
It's a nice (?) wool-ish V-neck sweater I got from H&M a long time ago and a dress shirt I've never worn before that's of a nice material and is comfortable. The sweater sleeves are way too long and everything happening at the neckline is a disaster. i remember trying this a long time ago and everything feeling really tight and uncomfortable, now it's all really baggy and looks sloppy and this doesn't make any sense considering that I've put on weight since then.
I just want to look nice but I don't really want to look like I'm trying to, maybe I'll get to that point eventually but for now I just want to see if I can go a few days without wearing a shitty t-shirt and go from there. I'm not trying to impress anyone as much as I'm just trying to motivate myself to just atop being a lazy person in general all the time.

Re: Clothes houndz.
Go to a Brooks Brothers (or other 'respectable' mens' suiting store) and say you are looking to get a few shirts and that you'd like to get measured. You might have to waste a bit of time and energy being in a brooks bros. with no intention of buying, but you will leave with a proper shoulder and neck measurement which goes a long long way in making a dress shirt look better without you actually having to try.
I think their shirts are pretty overpriced for their quality though, so go shop elsewhere after you leave.

Re: Clothes houndz.
I'd go to Nordstrom Rack. They have a tailor on site that can measure you and take care of your shirts. Anything you are planning to wear as "business shirt" should get darted at the back by the tailor.
It will make a huge difference. I'm not a fan of the sweater over the collared shirt look. Maybe every now and again but I feel more like a history prof than anything. Some dudes treat it like their everyday uniform though.
I also like the slim fit chinos at Banana Republic.

camo has worked its way through the trend cycle the last few years. dudes in the hood have been wearing camo for awhile now. since Wiz Khalifa got big, i see a lot of camo shorts, which are hilarious. then camo made its way to the class-conscious hipster sect and i would see lots of hot girls with curly hair walking around in camo jackets. now it's full on "trendware". this jacket is something that has been piquing my fashion interest this week, even though i have no intention of buying it and it looks like shit quality: http://www.uniqlo.com/us/men/outerwear/jackets-and-coats/light-pocketable-parkas/men-light-pocketable-parka-126783.html#57
that all being said, camo is a cool look to cultivate if, as you say, you're tryna pick up suburban chicks that are a little trashy.

its harder than it looks. i look like shit almost all the time i do it because i have tons of ill-fitting thrifted sweaters and a closet full of dress shirts that are all different sizes.
generally, it can be even harder to make it work with a v-neck than with a crew neck.

Re: Clothes houndz.
Also, sorry but it really is not that hard to make a sweater over a button down shirt look reasonable. Just buy some clothes that fit and aren't shitty material/colors.
