I've had it on my computer ever since then and have played it several times over the last week. It's really beautiful music and there's so much more to it than I ever gave it credit for.

This may be funny idk but most of the ambient I listen to this year has been the generic YouTube music that's like "heal your nervous system 425hz binaural 3hrs"

What does 1st release / 2nd release mean?

I asked them about this and they told me that they're just the first and second batches of tickets released for sale. The first ones are the cheaper "early bird" option. Buy those.

The new episode of Radiolab has a fun bit in the middle about William Basinski and his Disintegration Loops. The whole thing is worthwhile listening, but I had no idea that part was in there and it was a delightful surprise.

Nah this is right on the money. Sounds like riding on a scary ass train.

A little brutal for what I usually listen to, but a very welcome contribution.

I didn't find it brutal at all but I don't know what the baseline is for this thread.

People would post anything and everything in the Avec's Ambient Nook (?) thread over on somb and it was really annoying. Now I've become everything I used to despise!

That five minutes of loud buzzsaw action in the beginning of "Ings" is not brutal?

I did not listen to the episode but the disintegration loops is a performance piece at heart so they may have referenced it through a recording process rather than a direct reference. It’s sorta influenced by another famous piece called ‘I am standing in a room...’ 


This is far more academic than disintegration loops but still cool. Especially after about 10 mins when it just starts to sound like an alien language.

I'm compelled to buy stuff from artists I like, certainly because I want to support the artist but perhaps even more due to a perverse consumerist addiction to spending, but can we keep the digital downloads under $10?

This is a pathetic post but if it gets anyone else to comment on this album, it'll be worth it.
