Just found out the next version of X-Men pinball software will have an easter egg of my name and (crude pixelated) likeness. Too bad I don't actually own one.

Just had a second interview, with the CEO. Went so well she talked about making me wealthy and palmed me a gift certificate for Fleming's Steakhouse.

I'd have been happy to purchase Miguel some tacos al pastor and a Buffalo Trace manhattan. This Fleming's gift card is reserved for me and the ole lady to celebrate my new job.

    Thanks bro.

It's an actual design position, so it'll be like I have a career. Sounds mostly I'll be making invitations and banners for the meetings the company will be holding for their clients. It's in the industrial end of Lincoln Park, which sucks, but there's a good produce store nearby so there are perks. It's another big pay increase, and I'm not even sure how to deal with that. I'm sure the Damos and Nicks and WithoutOpinions of the place would think it a modest salary but I'm having visions of an Uncle Scrooge style money bin right now.

It's been a week since my last cigarette. I haven't even experienced a single craving Very Happy

I think I can classify myself as a #nonsmoker at this point.

How did you do it? Serious question. I always get like 5 days in and then freak out about something my roommate said and cool myself down with a cigarette.

Yeah. $12 a pack in Chicago. Only $6 in Naperville though so I typically just stock up there.

Obviously less concerned about the financial impact than I am long-term health side effects.

Rounding to the nearest pound and the nearest dollar I was also paying $12 a pack.

I don't have any valuable advice because it was so incredibly easy for me. I just decided not to smoke and it wasn't even a niggling problem. Sorry.

Congrats. How long were you smoking and did your cessation from it just come from a random desire to quit or were you starting to experience any negative health problems associated with smoke inhalation, tobacco, tar, nicotine, etc?

Picked the habit up in August of 2008. I wouldn't have been able to smoke for a while anyway since the dentist messed up a minor filling and I was experiencing agonising toothache like I've never known before in my life. Wtg, Dr Azzopardi!

I had a nagging throat ache for about 3 weeks at the start of Spring. I kept thinking it was just bad allergies so I took the over the counter meds and stopped smoking for about 7-10 days. It was agonizing and I wanted to tear my fucking hair out one by one. The throat ache has gone away at least.

I smoke close to half a pack a day but I only started in August of last year. I figure this is something that I am going to enjoy doing throughout undergrad and then I will kick the damned habit soon after. Probably not a good plan to have, but I haven't been known to formulate the best of plans or ideas.

The problem isn't really the withdrawal or the physical cravings as much as the habit I've developed of sitting outside, having a smoke, and talking to a few people in the process. It's literally the only redeeming part of a lot of my weekdays.

Crushing cars mk. fuck you, death.

Last night on the way home from poker, some guy blew through a red light and I t-boned him at 50 mph. Both cars fucking destroyed. Spent all night in the trauma ward getting cat scans, EKG, ultrasound, x-rays, and just generally poked & prodded. They admitted me, watched me all morning & half the afternoon. Verdict? Tiny fracture of left ring finger. Walked out of there like a boss and caught a cab home.

Typing and opening cans of cat food with one hand sucks, though.
