Re: NFL Discussion
The Bears have been looking to capture the same small town aura and fan attachment that Green Bay has and they’re doing it by becoming the Arlington Heights Bears.
I say good for them and respect the effort.

Won't the new stadium in Arlington Heights just be competing for those events as well?

Sure, but not every artist can fill 100,000. Soldier field is also on the lake, hard to beat that atmosphere. Many young people still would rather goto the city for a concert than a suburban venue. Doesn’t Lolla attract them every year? When you’re 18-35 I believe the city still has an allure that violence and other crime problems won’t change that much.undo wrote:BGwaves wrote:I think Soldier Filed will still be used as a great downtown venue for concerts, so I don’t think it’s going anywhere.

Re: NFL Discussion
The Tennessee vs Alabama game today was one of the most exciting football games I’ve watched in maybe the past 20 years.
Just awesome no defense, scoring every drive & college game atmosphere.

One thing I love about these videos that are uploaded on the NFL's official YT channel is that they generally don't SPOIL THE ENDING for you in the video title.
Not that you don't already know what this is.

Re: NFL Discussion
What’s the deal with the Bears anyway? Seems like this Fields kid is legit and they appear to be a lot better than a 3-10 record would suggest. Is this team gonna be a thing to care about in a couple of years?
I miss living in a house with my dad and brothers and for that alone to be an excuse to sort of care about sports.

Re: NFL Discussion
Chicago media seems happy as hell with how this season went even though it looks like one of the top 5 worst in the team's entire history?
All I've heard is they're supposed to have a lot more money to spend next year.
Probably the best almost-touchdown you'll ever watch.

Re: NFL Discussion
They have a lot of money and the media seems to be in love with Fields. Fields is very good at running the ball but cannot throw the ball which I think is problematic if you play the QB position.

Re: NFL Discussion
This season has been horrible to watch. I watched a few plays and gave up. Fields has talent in his run game and he can connect with receivers enough to compensate for his lack of a long ball, but his mind is fucked. He feels like Markell Fultz right now.

Fields will be a very effective QB next season for an Arena League team. He’s extremely well suited to be playing for the Iowa Barnstormers.

I think I enjoy watching Jalen Hurts play QB right now more than I’ve watched anyone else at that position in recent years.

Jordan Love emerging as a good QB on the youngest offense in the NFL as the Packers are fighting for a playoff spot.
Omg the NFL is not ready for a Packers fan base that could have 3 QBs in a row that produce consistently winning teams!

Not thrilled it will come down to Packers needing to beat the Bears to get into the playoffs.
I am thrilled about J-Love and this young receiving group lighting up the NFL for the next several years!

Still trying to understand why this didn't stop the clock, he went out of bounds and I thought that was all there was to it.
I used to "know" this as a fact since I was a child but I've realized in recent years that it only stops the clock some of the time but it's never quite clear why.

Re: NFL Discussion
I sorta want to root for Taylor Swift.
And I sorta want to root against football in general.
But neither of those wants are all that intense and I’m not entirely sure how or whether they relate to one another.
So, as usual, I’m rooting for Devin Hester circa 2007, and my way of doing so is to not watch football and then when people say, “hey, you see that football,” I’m like, “oh yeah, those teams sure footballled.”

Re: NFL Discussion
Per usual, the Packers lose in heartbreaking fashion and now I’m angry and bitter. I’m not rooting for anyone. I want them all to lose. I want all fans to feel sadness.
I don’t listen to Taylor Swift. I’ve tried but whatever not my thing. I do find it hilarious that she’s become the storyline in this NFL season though. Fans and announcers getting mad about the biggest celebrity in the world getting airtime by drinking and cheering on her future hall of fame boyfriend is awesome.

Absolutely. I’ve been vibing on this so hard. It’s like a repeat of the OMG Jessica Simpson is dating Tony Romo situation except that this time the intruding pop star is like 50 times more important than the team of the player she’s dating and like 3 times more important than football in general, and it’s nice to see these turntables turned.
Anyway, my wife is super big time into her on a deep personal connection level so now I’m an obligatory fan. I dig a lot of her stuff. More of it ranges from fine to pretty good but I stump hard for Folklore (August is the track that I’m somewhat unexpectedly head over heals in love with) and I appreciate that she had a song with Lana on her most recent album and decided to put out a version with way more Lana on it, so thanks for that Tay Tay. Her world domination machine to generate billions has a bit of a capitalist corporate juggernaut feel to it, so that’s sorta icky. But so does the NFL, and maybe they should just collaborate and win the cultural hegemony World War III for us all!
