Okay I want to sync my ipod so I picked a handful of albums (like 20) and tried to do it but it says that it "cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 2.05 GB required).

I thought the whole point of this was that it would wipe out all the albums that I have on my ipod (currently 185) and only then would it put the ones that you checked on the sync music page in their place. Clearly this is not how it works.

Just plugged in my phone. Never done this without syncing so not sure if I can actually help.

Have you played with the options? Would checking "Sync Only Checked Songs and Videos" work maybe?

I tried everything and then I unchecked the "sync music" box or whatever it was and THEN it deleted all the music on my ipod.

Gonna keep playing with it and I'm sure I'll figure out this 10 year-old technology by the end of the summer.

I think now that you have the old stuff off managing from iTunes should be pretty simple. But then it's the only thing I've ever used so who knows.

i think if you have more music selected to sync than your ipod can hold, itunes won't allow it.

I’d been delaying the install of the iPhone update and accidentally hit install last night when the notification popped up.

I hate this new Apple shit my icons are in different locations. I was like some old man fumbling with new technology on the train this morning trying to locate my Ventra app.
