Because I loved maps when I was a kid. I would read atlases and draw imaginary maps of everything and seeing this should have blown my imagination wide open but that never happened.

I always thought that he failed to complete the world because you could never see what the whole planet looked like, and as a result it was boxed in on 4 sides like you're playing Zelda or something, but for no reason.
