I suppose Melt Yourself Down are a London band. I assumed some sort of non-anglophonic origin. Their self-titled is really doing it for me.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
really enjoying this 2013 Musical Recording:
RIYL: blissed-out disco edits, hardbody house workouts, summertime & the water, Strictly Rhythm, jacking acid wormholes, genre-appropriate vocal samples, concealed homosexual jukeboxes

the octa octa album on silk is p good
will check this one out for sure
btw, i like the e.m.m.a album on keysound quite a bit, even though it may lack those 'wow' moments

Dean Blunt - The Redeemer
This is the best thing I've heard all year. It seems kind of genreless to me, despite all the individual sounds being fairly familiar. I'm not even sure which tracks to link to since they're somehow all A. standouts and B. better in the context of the full album.
i loved the first untitled album and One Nation but recent HW output yielded diminishing returns which meant i downloaded this but left it on the shelf. shouldn't have as this bares virtually no resemblance to any of their previous stuff (apart from the occasional total wtf sonic element e.g smashing glass, car horn , waves etc.)
totally appreciated left turn Mr Blunt.
must get round to that octa octa at some point too.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
i'll make my list current
not in order:
Kanye West - Yeezus
Yung Lean - Unknown Death 2002
Phoenix - Bankrupt
Disclosure - Settle
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Fuck Buttons - Slow Focus
Mammane Sani et son Orgue - La Musique Electronique du Niger
Migos - Young Rich Niggas
my bloody valentine - m b v
Toro y Moi - Anything in Return
Palm Highway Chase - Escape from NY
iamsu! put out more good stuff this year
literally all records that are ultra famous, Bruegel uploaded on this board or Vurt recommended.
i need to make more of a concerted effort to download records that interest me instead of waiting until they fall into my lap. it can be hard to figure sometimes if i'm just not discerning at all anymore or whether everyone just has stellar recs.

Ghosts of the Great Highway is the only Sun Kil Moon album I've heard and it's one of my absolute favourites.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
when April came out, which eventually got me to discover Ghosts of the Great Highway, it changed the way I look at music forever
Koz became one of my all time favorite songwriters and his brand of deeply personal, reverberating slowcore is the template I compare a lot of music to

What is this? How did I even find out about it? Did someone here post it?
Who is this artist? RYM has other Moon B releases listed but there's nothing for this one.

Re: 2013 Musical Recordings
The new Ulrich Schnauss is a major disappointment, IMO.
The new Austra record is strong for you Knife/Fever Ray/ Glasser types. I like it pretty good.
Also really digging the BOC, especially tracks 8-onward.
