I thought they were basically the exact same thing in music crit terms, the only difference being that The Naked and Famous have a song I like.

(The only one I've heard, didn't intend it as a diss).

Yeah, even I love that song. So great.

The new Lord Dying slab Summon the Faithless is crushing and riff-centric crusty Portland doom, featuring members of Black Elk and Cremains. Kicks a whole lot of ass. RIYL: Black Breath, YOB, High on Fire, Goatwhore, old Torche.

I haven't heard True Romance yet but this track is great. The fact that she's a big haired/tiny waisted songstress also goes a long way.

the aesthetics on this are horrible to me. i hate that female grosscore shit. one of my least favorite styles ever.

i very much want to dislike all of it but there are some musical ideas i can get behind in that song. her persona seems well curated, but ultimately hackish. feels like early Lana Del Rey or ASAP Rocky in that there is the foundation of an interesting artist, but there's not enough talent or creativity to make the jump from "oh, isn't this an innovative hodgepodge of styles" to "this artist is really creating their own unique sound". this is confirmed to me by the fact that "You (Ha Ha Ha)" is a three year old Gold Panda beat.

I don't know what 'grosscore' means.

it's not a real word. not sure i've heard anyone use it.

i just use it as shorthand to describe a sort of personal aesthetic where women embrace a sort of gross or dirty look (by mainstream standards) because it subverts expectations about what women are "supposed" to look like. i get that vibe from the frizzy hair and the chola eyebrows and the dark and grainy look of the video and the closeup shots of gross looking pizza and the skinny dog and the wearing of punk rock clothes in a bathtub.

it is not appealing to me.

Kinda pretty sure grosscore is the greatest genre ever.

I'm feeling Cut Copy less & less with each new record. We'll always have "Out There On the Ice."

I love the Happy Mondays and all but this new Cut Copy song isn't really doing it for me.

I am listening to the new The Icarus Line long player. This beats the hell out of wimpy Cut Copy, lol.

This is the best thing I've heard all year. It seems kind of genreless to me, despite all the individual sounds being fairly familiar. I'm not even sure which tracks to link to since they're somehow all A. standouts and B. better in the context of the full album.

He's come on a long way since 'You're Beautiful'.

still a huge fan of that Cut Copy song, especially the breakdown at 4 minutes
