Did not know you could attach entire albums via Spotify into a post like this. Pozzed for the technological insights provided.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
Do you guys have any interest in Evian Christ? I was obsessed with Kings And Them for a long time after it released. I'm about to put on his latest EP and I have pretty high hopes.
For those that haven't heard his stuff you should check this out:
I don't know if any of you guys ride the train into Union Station from the suburbs (Nick maybe?). But if you ever do picture all those hustlin' and bustlin' bros in suits listening to that second track on their way to work.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
Yup this thing fucking kills. I'm way more interested in the influence this dude could have on mainstream rap music than whatever HudMo/Lunice/Rustie are doing. Speaking of the latter, why didn't another album ever come out?wp64 wrote:I'm about to put on his latest EP and I have pretty high hopes.

I've never really used Soundcloud for more than a few minutes at a time until yesterday. Listened to that, a fucking shitload of NEW Shuttle358 music, and various house/techno mixes.

jury's still out on it for me, lots of really great moments but also lots of wallpapery ones.

this is even more delightful the second time through. i love the way the new tracks are thematically linked by their loungy stylings and the Leisure Suit Preben character. still, i was surprising at just how eclectic the whole thing is. it also made me remember how much i liked the Swing Star series.
really good.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
the sinogrime as concept album hype around the Fatima Al Qadiri debut certainly piqued my interest and the first listen is ticking a lot of boxes.

didn't possibly think when i read this word, despite the clear etymology, that it could be a UK-grime interpretation of traditional Chinese music, but here we are.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
If memory serves, that mix doesn't include Morbyd Syn's Chinese Riddim (often wrongly credited to Wiley)
worth mentioning that XTC's Functions On The Low (aka my favourite grime instrumental ever) owes a lot to this sound...
