OK Computer was an album that upon release in '97 I can honestly say changed my life.

My take on this album in 2017: Still holds up. Still gives me chills.

Not gonna lie: When I first witnessed "Paranoid Android" on MTV with its "Robin" animated video my brain was really not ready to handle it yet.

OK computer was a really big one for me too. I think that before that, I mostly liked rock and/or punk and/or "grunge" music because it was cool. And my taste wasn't bad, it was just exceptionally one-dimensional. OK computer was probably the first legitimately weird thing to appeal to me from a perspective just one degree of separation from all that stuff, confuse me a lot, and ultimately push me towards being slightly less of an oblivious idiot in terms of .. i don't know, liking music in general I guess.

I was just listening to things and Exit Music for a Film randomly came on and now I'm just all the way in again. This album is one of the best things and every 2-3 years I'm reminded of that. Man, the last 1:15 of "Let Down." whew.

The first "maybe I should check this album out" moment I can remember for this was in autumn 1999, which was around the time I bought it and first listened to it. Was kind of pissed after taking the cellophane off to find out that the hinges on the jewel case were very loose and the whole thing would just fall off if you weren't careful, a problem I was never able to fix and that still haunts me every time I reach for it today.

Mid/late December 1999 I drove my college roommate to Midway airport and then got completely lost on the way home while listening to it, a story I used to try to shape into some kind of metaphor for the album itself.
