The impact that the Trump presidency is going to have on our courts and legal system will probably create the most long-term social damage. It has been getting some mainstream attention lately, which is a start.

While trying to pin down this idiot's "strategy" in semimar today, I tried for "ego-drunk twitter spambot." It got laughs and was better than "mercantilist" or something of the ilk.

But even now it all doesn't matter for some reason, why?

this administration's stance is that all sexual assault victims are lying unless the man admits he did it.

literally. that is the position that Huckabee Sanders has staked out.

this seems to be a central tenant of our politics now. if you are willing to deny/lie about anything, you can do whatever you want without consequence since the burden of proof in our legal system is way way too high.

Many men deny such accusations like that.

Many of them are still investigated and/or taken to court.

This may be one of those days when I need to shut it all out just to get by.

the more powerful the person, the less likely they are to be investigated.

the only thing that seems to take people down are PR concerns, like Matt Lauer this morning. NBC can't take that PR hit, so he's gone.

The fucker was re-tweeting anti-Muslim videos from a British white supremicist. If he orders an attack on North Korea the press will create the narrative that he’s protecting Americans & by the way “Support Our Troops.”

And all this other shit will get pushed below the fold and his team knows it.

it all comes back to the original sin of the people that voted for him. if you excused everything during the campaign and voted for him, there is literally nothing that he could do now that would change your POV.

the electorate chose to turn a blind eye to rape -- that is what our country is and we must accept it.

I think we are at the stage where he could bum a dog to death on live television and 28% of America would defend him and would be saying shit like "fuckin' dawg had it coming, got what he deserved"

this point is so obvious, Trump has his own line about shooting someone on Fifth Avenue and it not hurting his poll numbers that i'm sure we've recited several times on this board already

It's the numbers though. It's one thing for him to do anything and win a primary or nomination. It's another that he is still polling at 38% approval. That's over 100m voters.

100 million people are fine with a rapist psychopath as president as long as he isn't a "loonly liberal SJW". i suspect at least 50 million of those would answer in the affirmative if you posed the question to them exactly like that: "Are you fine with someone who has multiple, credible rape accusations against their name and has serious questions about their mental competency as president so long as they are not a liberal social justice warrior?"
