well, it's more that full time work is more calming that freelancing or part timing or unemployment. school is the platonic idea for killing time.

I need to get better at killing time as well.

My new job pays incredibly well for my qualification level but I do it from home and end up spending every other waking hour on the internet (which isn't a massive change from before).

i won $70 playing poker the other day. that was pretty cool. instead of my usual strategy of "playing for chaos" i tried to win.

Wife and I are moving to the town where I work, a five minute bike ride from my job. We weren't looking for a place, but one that fits every category we're looking for just sort of fell into our laps. The only bummer is it gives my wife a 50 minute commute - instead of 30 - to a job she isn't terribly excited about. But then a job in the town we're moving to just sort of fell into her lap, a job she's actually excited about at a very cool place, a job that pays $20G more a year than her current. Life just focused up beautifully.

My team at work leaves the office by 5pm every day except for Fridays, when they spend 2-3 hours playing Wii and drinking wine before leaving at 4:30. This will only continue until the summer though, when the office partakes in "Summer Fridays" ie leave the office at 1PM

I almost got arrested on Thursday night because I was peer pressured into scaling a six story building by a bunch of friends. I'm extremely afraid of heights but I was just intoxicated enough for that not to really matter. It was really cool up there and we could see straight into Wrigley Field. Eventually three cop cars came and were flashing lights at us and telling us to "come the fuck down." They were pretty cool about it though and just gave everyone a warning.

Went to a Cubs game yesterday with my dad. They won. We ate on some sushi after and then drank beer and watched the Hawks toy with the Wild.

Sort of bummed about that Bruins comeback but overall I am feeling pretty fucking good and will be enjoying this top-shelf weather today.

Spent the last five hours sitting on my porch going through a 12 pack of 312 and listening to a great mix of Neil Young gems. I'm in such a good mood right now and I can't be more excited about my first summer in Chicago.

I don't think you were ever in danger of getting arrested. They probably wanted to make sure a bunch of dumbass white kids didn't fall to their deaths. That would really make a weekend that is sure to have at least a dozen murders involving minorities look bad.

Yeah. I don't think so either. One of my friends said some smart-ass bullshit and one of the douche cops threatened to cuff him, which I thought was really funny. I love situations like that because you can actually tell who is real or not. I'm unshakable and have stepped up and taken multiple tickets because I really don't give a fuck. It's hysterical when supposedly punk rock dudes start trembling in their space boots when they see a police officer.

But yeah, I am well aware of the socio-economic ramifications of my interactions with the police.

The thing about alcohol is I am very good at dictating when I do or don't get drunk. But once I start I can't stop. I'm fucking slammed right now and there is still a long night of drinking ahead of me. Damn it.

Short story: probably something to do with American fearmongering culture, creepy pedos, and/or the 2nd amendment, and me all stuck in the middle.

Was out for a run in an unfamiliar locale and turned into what looked like a promising little trail. There was a gate guard though, so I knew I wasn't supposed to be there. Rather than be smart about it and just power through/ignore with the headphones as my "get out of jail free" I replied to the gateguard's yells to stop. I was going through Virginia Wesleyan's campus. I started pretending to be a student, but when she pressed with the "which residence" schtick I just threw the headphones back on and got outta dodge. A few miles later the bike patrol fuzz tracked me down.


On the plus side, they just gave me a warning and a yellow "stay outta riverdale" piece of paper (but with no fine luckily). So I guess I'm banned from trespassing there again in the future.
