Re: Yancy's Secret Jukebox
Ok, here's some music that's been making me happy somewhat recently and may be on topic. Sorry if I or anybody else has posted these before.

Re: Yancy's Secret Jukebox
Betty Who and Todd Terje have made some of the best music of 2013, in my humble opinion.

Boy oh boy, I just can't get over the fact that one of these groovy tunes is called "Ralph Macchio."

Re: Yancy's Secret Jukebox
Ariana Grande stole my heart last week with her crushing facsimile of Mariah circa '93
and this week HAIM returneth with possibly their best song yet - the string stabs in the middle eight! <3 I'm so mad I didn't go to their show here last thursday.

Re: Yancy's Secret Jukebox
Just another phenomenal Haim single. Their show here this weekend sold out instantly, and I didn't win an invite to whatever secret show they're doing on Thursday night. Pretty gutted about missing them, especially since I was a fan back when they had like 100 youtube views.

Yeah I was actually more happy for them (and that people are into good music) than sad for myself.

Re: Yancy's Secret Jukebox
still seems like a pretty bland band coasting on "girl rock" notoriety. and i hate how lazy that argument is. i'm offended i keep making it.
they sound like a less eccentric Dirty Projectors. smooth and pleasant, but neither deep enough for repeated exploration nor relentlessly hooky enough for obsessive immediacy.
"The Wire" is a pretty good song and coasting through some old YouTubes "Don't Save Me" is good.

Re: Yancy's Secret Jukebox
You just don't have an ear for composition, melody, or harmony. S'alright, more Haim for the rest of us. Enjoy that new Kanye record!
