Duff, my yard is > 1 acre and I use a push mower so it takes at least 2 hours to do and my total distance traveled is about 6 miles

Not sure your eating habits but changing ones diet is typically the major contributor of weight loss even when coupled with exercise. I don't have a source to give you but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

I think the main benefit of exercise wrt weight loss is that it speeds up your metabolism and lifting weights is actually better for it than running

Same! I got in an actual fight with my parents this year over them wanting to use the snow blower. It would have ruined all my fun!

This is another huge benefit for me. My favorite album to listen to when running is Dirty Mind because it is nice and short. Lately, I've been listening to 21 Savage's Issa Album though.

It's true that strength training is better for increasing your resting metabolic rate than running, but they both help. Also, cardiovascular work is good for your heart health. You can do weightlifting to do cardio, but it takes some practice.

Yoga has helped immensely with my running. I can apply the breathing techniques to go for longer, my balance and form is much better, and the increased strength in all parts of my body (especially around the joints) is taking pressure off my knees. I recommend it enthusiastically.

Vinyasa yoga is my shit. Some of that other shit can get too crazy though. Like yesterday they had me doing "back bends" and now my chest has felt kind of weird all day.

Vinyasa is cool but I like deep holds and breathing work as well. Just don't do anything that feels too weird, there's no point. But yeah, I enjoy the deepening of long holds.

Keep it up Duff. It'll come back.

I'm trying to do cardio at least twice a week, even if it's just for 30 minutes. Tuesday was the first day where I ran hard and ended up with tired muscles instead of sore muscles. Progress!

After a shit day at work yesterday, all I could think about was running for as long as I could when I got home. I slapped SR3MM and shot my finger murder weapons all over the place as I zoomed around the neighborhood. It was uplifting rather than tiring. It feels so good to be in this place.

That post speaks to me. My finger murder weapon go-to album for when I’m in that mood has long been Flockaveli, but I’m gonna make it a point to listen to that SR3MM you’ve been talking up here and in that other thread.

9 years ago I just decided to go running one night after work (this was during the summer) and I suddenly found that I really loved it. I hated my job and was going through a not very happy time but for a brief time it became something that I really looked forward to all day long.

I ran 2-3 miles or so every night for like 2 months, then one night I pulled something or hurt my knee and I just couldn't do it anymore. Tried to resume my routine a few weeks later and my body was not having it at all.

I never got back into it, or at least I've never been able to string together more than 2 or 3 days of it in a single week since then, but I still think about it all the time.

Went on a 5 mile hike through Starved Rock State Park yesterday. I haven’t been to the park in many years. It felt great being out there on the trails, pausing every now & then to take in a view.

I might have to find some other hikes in/around Illinois. Starved Rock is an easy hour drive but the Wisconsin parks are over 3 hours away.

Fuck yeah I love Starved Rock. My Grandma used to have family reunion parties there. She's literally 100 years old.

Running is the only thing that keeps me alive. I bought new Saucony shoes last week and they're baller as fuck:
