Mdou Moctar is playing a free show at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Wednesday, June 6. I'm hoping to convince him to sign on as a Coolatta Lounge recording artist.

I know someone here has gone to Moogfest but I don't remember who/how many.

Is it a centrally located-style festival or is it spread out all over town?

My brother moved to Raleigh last year and loves music festivals. Mostly giant hippie festivals but other kinds too. And I never see him anymore so I really should try to plan to do this with him next spring, if it's worth it.

Saw cagey noise-rock veterans Unsane with Paves, last night. Bigg Dogg made an appearance!

I am going to see Ween with Sausage and Paves on Halloween.  

I went to see Joe McPhee, Susan Alcorn, and Ken Vandermark play at Corbett vs. Dempsey, this evening. Then I followed that up by going to see Dylan Carlson and Sleep. Tonight was a fine night.

How was the Sleep show?

Good! Some technical issues, so it got a bit sloppy, here and there. But it was solid, on the whole. I had never seen them and I'm glad that I went. They played both "Dragonaut" and "Holy Mountain," so that was pretty sick.

Jens Lekman is coming to Oakland on August 23 and I will be moving back in time to see him.

I missed his 2017 tour because I wasn't into his new record, but this will be an anticipated show for me. His 2009 show in LA was one of my all time favs. Tig Notaro opened the show with some standup. It was epic.

I don't think I've seen a single show all year but I'll be watching GZA perform all of Liquid Swords with a live band next month, so that's something to look forward to
