I like Kevin Durant and I hope it’s not serious but the cheering is pure schadenfreude.

I cannot stop thinking about this. It's just running in a horrible loop inside of my head. Awful. God damn.

Really cannot overstate just how much I loathe the Warriors. It's genuinely unhealthy, not to mention irrational. But I couldn't even get up the urge to root against them/for the Raptors, last night, after that shit went down. Within seconds, I was a lot less invested in this series which had, the previous night, given me trouble sleeping, re: nerves/anticipation/whatever. My hate isn't lessened, I guess, but my enthusiasm sure is. I just got bad vibes, now, man. Very bad vibes.

Do you think that the borderline dangerous, irrational hate of the Warriors around the league, fueled by the media for clicks, and indulged in by fans as "just fun", helped create the climate that made this outcome an inevitability with the astronomical pressure that surrounded this situation?

My gut feeling last night was that, given a Grade 2 calf strain and the recovery time he had, he would reinjure the calf as soon after he came out for the second half. That it was sooner and worse is devastating.

I think the takeaway is that the Warriors can no longer claim to the "light years ahead" mantle. The decisionmakers caved to pressure, rolled the dice, and this is the outcome. My gut pregame told me he was getting reinjured because this was way too fast to come back from a Grade 2 strain and this series was WAY too physical. I think Meyers should've said "I got this wrong" rather than "if you have to blame someone, blame me".

And not only for the outcome! Even if he didn't get hurt the decisionmaking process is flawed, as Jalen points out.

Not at all, no.  What you're describing is real, but them shits is, in themselves, symptoms--not the problem.  It's just people being people.  Michael Jordan came back too early from a broken foot.  In 1986, I think it was.  He got lucky.  It was still the wrong call.

EDIT: And it seems that you and Fab Five are making similar points, re: it's a bad decision regardless of the outcome. I agree. Last night, I described it to a friend in basketball terms--if Curry takes a pull-up jumper from the opposite free-throw line immediately after receiving the inbounds pass and with 22 seconds left on the shot-clock in the middle of the second quarter, it doesn't matter whether or not the motherfucker goes in. It's a great make, but it's still a bad shot. Paul George knows.

Derrick Rose also knows all too well both how brutal it can be to do what's right and responsible for yourself (the only person to whom you really need to answer, in the long run) and how, even then, there are no guarantees. Shit's rough.

I was a bit nervous about it, but not genuinely concerned until he first left the game and iced up on the bench. There was a cut-away to it. I have no fucking idea what I'm talking about, mind you, but my lay-person's knowledge suggested that staying warm would be much safer...and less indicative that something was still seriously wrong. I kind of hoped that meant he was done for the night, but nope. Back he came. And here we are.

Did Robin Lopez really make a Robzilla movie or not?

The answer is probably no but, like, why not just have him go ahead and make it? It doesn’t have to just be a phony premise for a commercial

As a Warriors fan, outside of the loss, that was about as perfect of a game to end the Arena as I could hope for. Games 1 & 3 were meh, but the rest of the series was a fucking hoot to watch. On to football season.

So, basically a year and a half until we see KD and Klay Thompson play again?
