Not that I don't C where U're coming from. Your references to recent personal experiences make it clear and relatable why U're into a certain type of music at the moment, and that's something we all deal with. I was just hanging out with crazy mountain hermits last week and as a result, all I really feel like listening to is bluegrass, Willie Nelson, and Herb Alpert (why they were so into that guy, I don't know, but still cool).
But I can be in this place and not feel the need to be aggressively dismissive of shit I haven't even heard.

Even at the time I just figured that was why he didn't want to talk about it, which is obviously fine. That didn't have much to do with my general dissatisfaction. I just thought it was hilarious that they figured they could just waltz into this party and be treated as minor celebrities. It was just kind of pathetic and weird.
And that is a fair counterpunch. It's less that I am into any certain type of music though. I just don't have any of the nostalgia that Chrono was referring to. I mean, I did similar shit. I was super excited about going to P4K music festival every year. I loved Animal Collective and I thought MGMT's first album was a seminal contribution to rock music or something.
But now I just think that's all stupid. Most of the shit I listened to didn't hold up at all. I think I would be more open to being nostalgic if there was an actual working narrative around these bands that made sense. But there isn't. So there isn't even a fun way to reflect back on it. Like, how could U be excited about a resurgence of something that never was able to build a sense of itself the first time around?

I don't really consider music from 2008-2010 to be "classic" indie rock at all but I'm not in my early 20s anymore and no one cares what I have to say.

Fine whiskey doesn't age - it already is aged -, this is the 12th LP from Car Seat Headrest, and my enjoyment of it now has nothing to do w/ whether or not I enjoy it in the future. Just happy to hear non-ironic guitars in music from 2016. Not every artistic statement needs to be profound, not every engagement needs to be critical, and not every opinion needs to be treated like its detrimental to your own.

I've been off 4 a week and I've gotten high almost every night
I wish that was as awesome as it sounds like it should be but at least I have some good music so it's not a total disaster

Basically, just understand, that my anger isn't directed at anyone here but is very general. And it really isn't a personal attack, which is why I mentioned that what I was saying was very mean in parentheses to begin with because I didn't want it to be some aggressive statement or anything.

This is anecdotal, and I never thought this band was worth a damn to begin with, but I'll never forget the time I met the band Wavves at some shitty college party. I tried to talk to the bassist 4 a little bit because I knew that he recorded with Jay Reatard but it was pretty evident that he wasn't interested. They just kind of stood there like idiots and made shitty jokes about Friends and kept trying to smoke our weed. It was so fucking embarrassing and lame.
It was basically in that moment that I decided I was totally done with this shit. I think a few months later Ezra Koenig had that stupid Rolling Stone article about Miley Cyrus. Ever since then I absolutely refuse to engage with this shit. I'm content just endlessly exploring the back catalog of legendary artists from yesteryear, figuring out how they thought about their lives and project, and what they were listening to. And when I'm not doing that, I wanna hear "Controlla" by Drake and imagine myself dancing in some club with a bunch of Trinidadians.

I've been a huge fan of "This Guy's In Love With U" 4 so long but have never delved deeper into the Herb Alpert catalog. Perhaps its time
