This is a really beautiful album. I don't want to oversell it, especially since several of you guys have referred to Alice Coltrane's Journey in Satchidananda as a marker and litmus test of good taste, but it is having a similar resonance with me.

She also just seems like a really cool. artist She set out to produce a kind of disco/Afro Beat album because she did not want to get typecast as the spiritual Eastern Oriental but her younger brother passed away and so she ended up producing this incredible reimagining of traditional Urdu and Muslim devotional poetry.

Instantly on my June playlist. 3 minutes into the record and this is quite special (and is clickbait for my world/avant-garde tastes these days).

Transcendental is a great word for this.
