Re: Recently heard in public places
There’s really no more public places since we’re all on lockdown, but somebody has AC/DC’s “TNT” cranked up to 11 and the whole damn street is jamming out to it right now from their windows/balconies.

Re: Recently heard in public places
My neighbors were drunkenly singing along to Erasure so loud the other night, I couldn't escape it and that really sucked because it was a super warm night and I wanted to chill on the porch.

Re: Recently heard in public places
Someone at my job said "money shot" on a videoconference, which seemed out-of-place to me, but no one on the call reacted in any obvious way. Googling afterward, there seemed to be some disagreement about whether the expression came from pornography, or if it was a general film expression that is just used a lot in adult film in particular.
Would you consider "money shot" a SFW expression, or no?

Re: Recently heard in public places
I've heard that used in situations where it seemed kind of inappropriate to me. But I have a track record of people telling me to "get your head out of the gutter!" every time I point something like that out so I think I'm kind of done even trying anymore.

Re: Recently heard in public places
The first time I'd heard the term was Mancow bitching about how The Blair Witch Project lacked one and the second time was years later in regards to some porno Rolling Stone Magazine was profiling for some reason so I guess I too am a bit confused on the matter.

I was doing a project at a grocery store in Hobart, IN and during the time I was there I heard Sunday Morning by the velvets, These Days by Nico, and How Soon is Now? By The Smiths.

Last week the elevator repair man was listening to "Last Nite" by The Strokes. This week, it was "Marquee Moon".

94.7 WLS-FM in Chicago played “Purple Rain”, “Land of Confusion” & “Sharp Dressed Man” in a row. I can’t recall the last time I was unable to change the dial because of killer jams like that in sequence.

Re: Recently heard in public places
Heard a song at Dicks Sporting Goods that lifted the chorus from this and reappropriated it into some Flo Rida/Black Eyed Peas-esqe pop-rap feelgood aerobics track.
I was wearing gloves and did not feel like taking them off to get my phone to ID the song. That was fine because I was certain that I could just look it up online later and it would be easy to find.
But NO nothing I try yields any results
This was not Dua Lipa.

Was just about to sit down for lunch at Benj Yehuda when I heard the opening notes of "Sober" by Tool. I ate my falafel wrap outside.

Had to refresh my memory, and yeah, that is definitely not prime falafel wrap soundtrack music. The inverse song-to-activity pairing compatibility of taking a shit to STP's dead & bloated

Re: Recently heard in public places
My kids’ Spring sports have been going on for several weeks now. Which means driving to and from practices and games. They pretty much control the radio in the car now. Occasionally, they’ll zone out on their phone or just staring out the window.
And it never fails a song that I think might be one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard in the history of my life will come on. Now, I think I leave it or don’t bother my kids to change the channel out of a desire to Hate Listen to the song.
It is by a dude called Stephen Sanchez and sounds like he’s trying to do some vintage throwback crooning but it’s almost like a shittier version of Pearl Jam doing a cover of “Last Kiss”. I truly hate this song.

Re: Recently heard in public places
Was in a Play It Again Sports for some reason when I heard "Golden Skans" by The Klaxons, immediately followed by "Dashboard" by Modest Mouse. This is interesting (humour me) not because I've never heard either song played in public at all, but because these two songs sit back to back on the SOMB Top 100 Songs of 20007 playlist that I carry on my phone at all times, in that exact order. Immediately when the opening of "Dashboard" began playing I started looking around, wondering if someone might be fucking with me, or maybe like my phone somehow accidentally got connected to their sound system or something.
Was both relieved and disappointed when the next song was not "Int'l Players Anthem".

Had "Girls Girls Girls" by Naked Raygun in my head as I stepped into Blackwood BBQ. They were playing "Girls Girls Girls" by Motley Crüe.
