I agree with both of you but it really comes down to none of these people - Democrat or Republican - are good people that give a shit about anything other than fulfilling the needs of their own ego.

Very concerned about the reports today that Russia tried to influence the outcome of the 2020 election.
Which is something the United States of America has never done and would never consider doing.

so when you guys say stuff like that it's more about not wanting to miss a chance to dunk on the hypocrisy of US foreign policy and not because you think it's no big deal right

Re: The Joseph R Biden Jr. Presidency
When your foreign policy is hypocritical, you can't take any action against bad actors without unintended consequences.
If the US is gonna meddle in any domestic affair it wants and then cry foul about cyberinterference (which we aren't even fighting properly because the Republican party is a domestic insurgency), we're going to create more bad blood and ensure there is another generation of bad actors who will have an interest in launching these attacks.
The Republican Party has the same election agenda as a foreign actor. The later hardly matters at all while the former looms like a specter.
All of this is not to say that the relevant, independent authorities should not use their authority to gather intelligence and prosecute those kinds of crimes. It just doesn't need to be said. It's placing weight on the wrong things. The US' top election issue is the absolutely pathetic and discriminatory way our country conducts elections. You also can't prevent government officials from colluding with foreign entities unless you changed the entire way the US government conducts business. You saw our government defend it's own capitol; none of these morons take security seriously at all. "Security" is a completely political term.

If people think the border crisis is bad now, they are ignorant to what climate change is doing, and will continue to do, to the equator regions.
If the earth keeps warming at this pace, you won't have thousands at the border, but millions.

Biden sets date for troop withdrawal of Afghanistan and members of the media from both parties are revealing they just love a never ending war. Wild, man.

Re: The Joseph R Biden Jr. Presidency
That offensive (Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan) into the region was based on a false premise. The only real question is what took so long. I guess we milked it: war is, unfortunately, big money.
We always knew it was largely about oil, so when we discovered oil in the America's: the ME wars of the Bush era all ended abruptly. The theft of oil from those regions goes all the way back to the Brits after WW2: but we don't need to steal it anymore.
It's arguable the only reason we were in that country at all is to propagate poppies so we can have our "war on drugs" to fuel the military industrial police complex.

The Obama administration and now the Biden administration have not exactly done a great job with Middle East policy, IMO.

What did the Bush and Trump administrations do better? The whole thing was a catastrophe no matter who touched it, imo

Re: The Joseph R Biden Jr. Presidency
So much of Obama's policy came from a place of insecurity. The coup in Honduras, Libya, surges in the Middle East, red lines again Assad, it was all so pointless and phony.
At least Grandpa Joe is just like "we out, fuck y'all". It's probably one of the best things he's done so far, even though we should accept a lot more refugees and could've gotten people out a long time ago.

Re: The Joseph R Biden Jr. Presidency
They clearly bungled a lot of the exit, but people are silly to play up the "humanitarian crisis" when there's been a war in that country for 40 years. I think perpetual warfare classifies as a humanitarian crisis even if there is a tiny middle class of Afghans in Kabul who wear suits. It suits the interest of Western imperialists to say that NOW there is a crisis. Liberals love to choose whose suffering is actually important.
Great example of why the entire imperialist mindset of Western media is trash: https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/18/business/afghanistan-lithium-rare-earths-mining/index.html
The Afghans are FAR better off with charting their own self-deterministic course under the Taliban than any of the bullshit we've been perpetrating there for decades.
The media interviews the a super small subsection of middle or upper class Afghans who have Western education or economic interests to create the impression that all the "normal and relatable Afghans" think this is the worst thing to ever happen.
Meanwhile, this shit apparently doesn't matter to anyone: https://www.npr.org/2021/07/26/1020666025/united-nations-report-civilian-casualties-afghanistan-reach-record-high
I'm not pro-Taliban, I'm anti-imperialist. In every circumstance.

Biden declassifying some 9/11 shit heading into the 20th anniversary. I fully support this but someone needs to sit Joe down and explain what happened when JFK started pissing off folks in the CIA and FBI.

Re: The Joseph R Biden Jr. Presidency
Draghi is doing the same thing here in Italy. There were a bunch of right-wing bombings in this country's postwar history that were blamed on anarchist groups and covered up by state agencies. It's all extremely sinister. For anyone interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_Due
The state archives were supposed to start releasing information to the public (which in practically just means academic researchers) but they have been dragging their feet. The current Prime Minister made a major announcement the other day that he was addressing the complaints of victims' families by overseeing the process and ensuring that the truth was brought to light. Tread carefully, Mario!

Inflation is fake and the whole system is so rigged it's barely worth talking about.
Corporations need to be beaten into submission.

Congrats to Kamala Harris - one of the least popular Presidential candidates ever and now VP and future least popular candidate ever for a second time - as she will temporarily be President today while Biden gets a colonoscopy.
