Yeah, both of those albums are really good. The one thing I sorta dislike about both of them is the description the artist gives the music. I don’t know why the music can’t just be heady on its own. Does it need to have a collegiate description of what the artist was reading and how that work informed their own? It’s like the description is supposed to shield them from being compared to their obvious influences or something. Either way, I will revisit both of these things in the days to come

I enjoyed listening to this Friko album enough to listen to it again, though in the first song the singer sounds like Thom Yorke sitting on a juicer. :seinfeld:

The new 2 hour album Diamond Jubilee by Cindy Lee is wild. I’ve listened to it 3 times already and it’s beautiful. Could be my AOTY. Could be that I just overplay the hell out of it the next few months. The music has hit me like very, very few new releases have in recent years.

I was surprised to see Prefuse 73 released a new album recently. I have it a listen today and it’s pretty good. Has a smoky lounge vibe, kinda noir at times. It’s not as I’m debt to hip hop as his early material but there is a funky element in a lot of the tracks that is very prefuse. If you liked his stuff I’d give this one a go it’s worth your time. If you’ve never heard him before I’d go here if you’re looking for smokey night time jazz/funk vibes. Enjoy

Came here to post about this. Yeah, very very cool. Feels special and idiosyncratic. The way it's currently available probably has something to do with that. You remember Deathconsciousness by Have a Nice Life back in '08? This feels similar, but I'm older now and less prone to hysteria and this is better.

The band METZ just put out an awesome album. I’ve only listened to the first 3 songs so I’ll edit this post if it craters after that. Never listened to them before but I always viewed them as a punk/noise band. If I’ve been missing out on this shimmering and open yet sludgy and dank shit all these years I’ll be kinda disappointed in myself.

haven't been able to stop listening to this since it came out. truly exceptional record
