This might have gone right through my parents' town but I haven't talked to them yet. I do know they're safe but I haven't seen reports of anyone who isn't.
This is some of the best tornado video you'll see anywhere.
Driving my kid to baseball and a really distinct rainbow appeared and he was just, “Oh my god we are so close to it. This is the closest we’ve ever been to a rainbow!”
I love the way everyone gets naked on the first nice day in Chicago. I was working today so I couldn’t enjoy it too much, but at least I got some good records in between getting work done.
LOL looks like the first nice day and reason to get naked came a week earlier this year.
Touching 80 degrees today and tomorrow. Sat on my deck for a half hour and took my shirt off. I don’t care that it’ll be 50 again by Saturday. I don’t care that I got a bunch of weird looks from neighbors.
I never used to get these alerts. Did air quality used to be better, or is this just a thing that people have recently started caring about? Am I going to get sick and/or die from running around in this?
271, “Very unhealthy.” Woof. When I went outside this morning it was like walking through a campfire. This is my only free afternoon all week and I planned on going for a long run. Might not do that now.
It’s going to be so hot today and tomorrow that the school district sent an email saying please drive your kids to and from school because our buses will not be sufficiently cooled and could be dangerous.
Eclipse didn’t really do anything for me. I saw clips on TV of people crying at viewing parties. Maybe they were all high on drugs and will have eclipse sex parties tonight.
Didn't have the glasses so I didn't look at the actual eclipse, but the general weirdness of people out in the streets, hanging out of windows, staring at the sky, and all the crescent shaped shadows and reflections on downtown streets and buildings definitely did it for me. Didn't weep or anything though.
I didn’t cry but I was certainly in awe. We went down to Albion, IL and experienced totality which I didn’t experience in 2017. Having experienced both a partial and full totality, I’d say it was worth it. I wish we would have found somewhere a bit more private and avoiding the traffic would have been nice, but I found the day with my dad and the moment itself to be cool and a lot of fun.
I sang “total eclipse of the heart” a lot today and then when we were all outside standing around I shouted, “we did it! Mission accomplished! The sun!” and folks seemed to respond positively. Then I left an hour early and rapidly drove home to give my wife the free glasses I got at Sun party with free popcorn, and I just gotta say, this was a hella good day of work.
