Re: Television Discussion Thread
Last year I tried watching AD for the first time, made it about halfway though season one. It's just too claustrophobically plotted, a chore to follow. More clever in a self-congratulatory manner than actually funny. To be fair, all that dry, discomfort-based comedy probably seemed revelatory a decade ago before the Office, et al.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
It would probably help if I was spoonfed a half hour per week like everyone was in 2003. It's a pretty dense show to binge watch, if you're actually paying close attention and trying to catch every little gag.Duff... wrote:It's pretty funny guys.

By dense I mean there were so many of them. But I'm not sure which level you're operating on here.

The show sucks, sucked, and will continue to suck. The suckiest suck that ever sucked, pretty much.
The only people I know who truly enjoyed Arrested Development are now people who celebrate How I Met Your Mother as the edgiest, most envelope-pushing show on television.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
AD has to be one of the best acted comedy series in the last twenty years. and i don't say that as someone who watched it as it came out. i'm not sure i've even seen every episode. i've just watched episodes with people on Netflix over the years and binged on it one or two times.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
I like Arrested Development, though I don't think it really matters if you see every single episode. I certainly haven't.
And even though there's a pretty convoluted storyline, it's not necessary to see them in any particular order.

Speaking of not watching things in order. I just binged (4-5 eps per week is binging for me) on the Trinity Killer season. Pretty good, except, again John Lithgow was in a real fucking hurry to get out of town and would not and could not have done what he did at the end.

Re: Television Discussion Thread
Community & The Office both had their best episodes of the season, last night.
For Community, this is a good sign. If it does come back next year, hopefully the writers have regained their footing.
I've been enduring The Office this season. Last night's Jim/Dwight dynamic reminded me of the early seasons. The Andy Bernard story line feels foreced and shoehorned in. They should have let him sail off into the sunst some time ago.
