2014 Musical Recordings

I hadn't heard BANKS until today but for most of the year I assumed it was the guy from Interpol and that he was now sincerely trying to make dirty south-flavored hip hop jams, much to the chagrin of the indie music press. I don't know how this came together in my mind or if it was in a dream or what.

I don't have anything to say about BANKS but I felt like I had to post this somewhere.

I keep making that mistake too, partly because Paul Banks DID put out a hip hop record a year or two ago.

This is quite good, sounds exactly like you would expect.

Can't wait.

I'm finally sitting down with this Caustic Window release. Anyone here have opinions on it?

this is probably my AOY.  Guy is basically the Daniel Johnston of 00's "garage rock"

The new Thom Yorke album was great music for early autumn porchdwelling last night.

Yes I am enjoying the latest offering from Thom Yorke.

I was 21 when I was super-obsessed with all these artists, most of whom have disappeared or sucked since then, so it's a very fitting title!

If Tomorrow's Modern Boxes had been released by someone other than Thom Yorke of Radiohead this would be getting rave reviews. I think it is a very cool album.

I'm at the point where if I like an album I won't even bother to read reviews about it. I'm just assuming that Pitchfork reviewed it this week and I don't even want to know what they think.

I don't think that's a brave contrarian stance or anything, Members-Only Ninja Turtles Fan Forum is the only site on the Internet that I trust anymore.

new Weezer and Prince albums both rated higher than new Thom Yorke.

That seems like a concentrated effort by PF

If it was released by someone else, it would have a hard time getting reviewed at all.

How are these? The vague descriptions that I've encountered are intriguing.

I like a hand full of the tracks on Art Official Age quite a bit. Some real good Prince slow jams on there.

the 3rd Eye Girl album is mostly terrible.
