Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
Good job by the Ottawa penalty killing unit that period. I don't like those forecheck/slashing minors that the refs are calling in front of the net. It's a war for position and you've got to let them play it out to a certain degree.

Also, cheers to DePaul for including NBC Sports Network in their dorm cable package so I can watch the Hawks tonight!

Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
Ottawa is really undisciplined and with another defenseman out of the lineup they should probably not play this way against Montreal's PP.

Much deserved goal for Ottawa after abusing the post and crossbar multiple times this period.
Awesome start to the Hawks game as well. Bring on Backstrom!

Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
To give my own two-cents on the issue of commentator homerism, it's something that never bothered me. I grew up listening to Ron Santo (RPI) and his obvious bias was something I always found to be charming and cathartic. I'd imagine you'd hear the same from south siders in regards to Hawk Harrelson. It isn't their job to be unbias and when commentators are they come off as boring and difficult for a lot of fans to relate to, which is my problem with the current Cubs tv commentators Len and Bob.
I do have a problem though with the basketball commentators on TNT. With the exception of Wilbon and Simmons its a bunch of ex-players who have nothing to offer other than in-game analysis. Chris Weber, Jalen Rose, Shaq, etc. almost never give any in-depth analysis beyond reiterating the action of the game in question. I get most of my news and sports journalism from ESPN Chicago writers like Nick Friddell.

Oh well, can't win em all.
Hawk Harrelson and Pat Foley have bot gotten a bit out of hand with the onset of old age. With Foley it just sorta seems like he's half in the bag for a majority of the game, with Hawk the homerism manifests in him bitching and moaning about umpires, unfair shit, whatever - some good material for sampling if you're a local beat maker in Chicago.

I feel like he hadn't quite found his stride in the games he's played this season. I guess Zibanejad is definitely staying up. I guess the question is how long can Karlsson and Anderson play like they've been playing.

Wow, fantastic sweater. Made all the more excellent by a recent/current trend of stupid canucks jerseys

You're a young man on his own in the city with no responsibilities, why not go drink a soda at the bar at Applebee's and watch the game there. Or I guess stream it at firstrowsports, whichever.

Re: [solved]Hockey Talk
I'd go to Clarke's and sit at the bar but my roommate is not around this weekend and I don't really want to go by myself. If it is close going into the last period I'll probably shoot over there and have a couple beers. For now I am just watching the Senators and working on some term papers.
