I was going to try to make a "top 10" list but I can't even come up with 10 albums from this year that I recall listening to or can remember being from 2017 vs any other year in the past 3 or so... This was how it started though.

The "new" Slowdive, on the other hand....man. It's like Souvlaki has a lost older sister. LOVE.

I liked it but then I realized I haven't played it once in the last 2 years and there's probably a reason for that.

I'm just good at missing stuff. I don't listen to the radio. I don't "go out." My irl friends mostly listen to deep cuts from the 1950s and "Detachable Penis" by King Missile, so I'm never in danger of hearing stuff at a party, or whatever.

I remember the first time I finally heard Rihanna's "Umbrella." It was in Tokyo. Deej's brother was there. It was October of 2007.

I remember the first time I finally heard both "Gangnam Style" and "Call Me Maybe." It was the first weekend in December of 2012. Same night.

I finally heard an Adele song, the other week, too!

Could someone link me the new Destroyer album? Better yet, could someone link me their whole discog? I'm seeing them in a few days and still haven't heard their most recent.

This will be my third time seeing them. The last time was when they were touring Kaputt and they also closed with "Hey, Snow White." Dan Bejar was tossed by the end and they put on a great show.

Kaputt is one of my top 10 favorite albums.

Destroyer's Rubies was a SOMB coming-of-age album for me. i saw him play a solo show at The Echoplex in LA in 2009 that was terrific. he played old favs like No Cease Fires! in an acoustic style. i think Aziz Ansari was there.

Destroyer Rubies was the album that made me read Pitchfork less, because I felt in the deepest depths of my soul or whatever fills that void where my soul should reside, that this album was nothing less than a 10.0.

It will forever remain a classic.

That show fucking ripped so hard. It was fun hearing a lot of tracks for the first time in a live setting like that. I've tracked down the new album now and think it's excellent.

They closed with "Bay of Pigs" and "Your Blood." They did a really cool and noisy version of "Suicide Demo for Kera Walker." Such a great band.
