2017 Musical Recordings

I feel like HNDRXX is too long. I find myself zoning in and out whereas on other Future releases I'm engaged the entire 35-40 minutes.

I could just be Futured out.

They're both too long and the s/t one isn't that good. But "Mask Off" is immense and there's some other good ones.

I like his crooner vibe which is why I enjoyed HNDRXX. I rarely expect rap artists to put together coherent albums though, just gotta poach the best songs. I also haven't listened to the past few Future projects. I haven't wanted to sift through it all. I'm back in though.

New "Afghan Whigs" album announced for May.

Am I allowed to talk about The Magnetic Fields in 2017? Because I'm quite enjoying about 40% of their obnoxiously and needlessly long new (quintuple, lol) album.

Anyone that enjoys early Neurosis should give a listen to Hymn's new album Perish.

I've listened to the first 3 parts and had a similar enjoyment rate.

tbf, if you are going to do a song for every year of the life and you are 50 the length inevitable. i suppose its the concept you could call obnoxious but I kind of like it. That said, I doubt I'll listen to the whole thing more than once.

Yeah, it's the concept which I think is silly. Whatever. It's a hell of a lot better than the last album (though I do miss the ubiquitous synths, if not the comparatively shitty songs), so I guess I should shut up and take what I can get.

Do chime in with what you thought of that last two discs. I thought they were much stronger than the first three.

The blind formalism of the whole thing really puts me off. Fifty songs across five discs. Fewer songs but much more of a pain in the ass than 69 Love Songs. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the 50x one-sided 7" release.

Yeah, has he put out anything as good as Pluto or F.B.G.: The Movie? I know most of the radio singles since then but I haven't listened to anything front to back after being kind of disappointed by Honest.

riyl those hard af sandwell tracks that have a shimmering beauty running through them that somehow doesn't shatter under the propuslive weight.

Its a bit one-note but they play it well.
