I am just under 6 feet tall but I think Zara is tailored for skinny, Euro bodied type dudes and not real American men like myself.

I was photographed for a fairly major news publication's online fashion section recently, looking quite silly after having just woken up from a grass nap. My 15 seconds of fame/shame.

Isn't the author saying they're okay as long as they match the collar of the shirt? The undershirt is a catch-22 with me. Sure, it's an extra layer of sweat protection, but it makes me sweat more.

there was a raj post once asking about advice on undershirts, if they were okay, etc. i believe it was pre YSBG, pre Members-Only Ninja Turtles Fan Forum, maybe on one of the JDFFs. my memory on all of these damn boards i've followed you people around on is hazy, but i recall saying undershirts are great. i'm wearing a salmon colored button down today, top 2 unbuttoned, showing off a charcoal grey v-neck.
also wearing shorts in the office.
    i don't really give a shit, i start vacation in 6 hours.

I don't wear undershirts because I find the added layer is uncomfortable. And on a day like today in Chicago it feels good to have that extra button undone and just walk around.

Article is accurate IMO. Particularly this part:

But V-necks with open collars, and crewnecks with closed collars, please. Especially considering the yellowing accelerated by antiperspirants, I disapprove of the “A-shirt”—the tank top that a gentleman refrains from calling a “wife-beater”—because it does not protect the pits. A V-neck shirt worn under a buttoned-up dress shirt is a bad move. And it is inexcusably uncool to expose the collar of a white crewneck undershirt worn beneath a dress shirt.

I usually wear undershirts to work because it's typically very chilly there and I appreciate the extra layer. But I often skip them outside of work.

Gray is the way to go, I don't bother with white undershirts. A-shirts are pointless.

Gray undershirts under a white dress shirt?

And what happens if you take off your tie mid-day? Change into a v-neck?

I've been wearing white crewnecks all this time like my daddy did and his daddy before that but now I'm a little lost.

a white undershirt is more visible under a dress shirt than a gray undershirt

but i don't wear undershirts under my dress shirts anyways, i don't like how it looks

I'm talking about a relatively light shade of gray. And I also like a relatively thick, opaque white dress shirt. Although I wear blue more often TBH as I don't typically wear a suit.

Probably remove the undershirt entirely, although I can't think of many instances when I've worn a tie and then taken it off mid-day.

This has generally been my experience too. Even if a white undershirt were to match the dress shirt relatively well, the contrast where the undershirt sleeves end is distracting.

I like it. Scoop neck of an A-shirt, pit coverage of a T-shirt. It's like the shirt version of no-show socks.

I'd heard the advice to not wear a white undershirt with a white dress shirt with a frustrating "Just trust us" as the only explanation. And then a few years ago a saw a white girl in a white dress and white undergarments at the Wilson station.

It took some getting used to but I don't think I could ever go back to wearing an undershirt under a dress shirt.

But what do I know. Tomorrow I'm taking a work sponsored CPR class and wearing a white Hanes t-shirt with jeans.  eh

Going through some Clothes Hound shit right now. My favorite pair of APC jeans has a tear on the right backside from wearing them so much. All for a naturally distressed look but can't bring myself to walk around in jeans with holes in the ass.

There are services like denimtherapy where you can send in your jeans and they fix any holes, tears, etc.
