Can't believe I missed the tenth anniversary of ApocalypDick, this was so far ahead of its time.

I hope this didn't sound like a joke, I just hear people on the Internet trying to "do" this kind of music all the time and it sounds terrible by comparison

Re: Now Playing
This holds up, or maybe it just is no longer laden with any of the hype-y baggage that came with it a decade ago and now it's just easier to hear it for what it is.

Unsurprisingly I still listen to this all the time. The 2012-2013 run those idiots had from ApocalypDick to Craphead City Presents “League in Space” is my favorite brilliant bullshit ever.

Mary Lattimore & Maxwell August Croy - Terelan Canyon
I got this album as part of a huge dump of bandcamp music that I bought for $20. I was going to buy Soshi Takeda - Same Place, Another Time, the digital album was $5, then I noticed that it was only $6 for the digital and a tape copy. I started to consider how we would listen to it when I scrolled down a bit further and noticed that the entire discography was only $20. I’m thinking, hmm, I like Soshi Takeda, I guess getting all of their music for $20 isn’t a bad deal. Then I read a little closer and noticed that it was actually the entire discography of the label, Constellation Tatsu. 124 albums in total for $20. I bought immediately and it was a great purchase. So far, I’ve already enjoyed 3 of the other albums besides the one I wanted. Good deal if you like ambient, vapor wave(s), and other adjacent music styles.

I'm on a big Sparks kick at the moment. I plan to watch that recent documentary by Hot Fuzz guy tomorrow. I'm pretty jazzed, but the 2.5 hour run time seems like a bit much.
Never been a super fan or dug deep into their catalogue or anything, despite sort of knowing that I'd get there as soon as I did so.

I have absolutely no idea what a His Name Is Alive song is supposed to sound like but I have to admit this was the last thing I expected.

Re: Now Playing
Basically all I listen to these days is old country music. George Jones, Merle Haggard, Gary Stewart, Charlie Rich, etc. I know there's at least one Cocaine & Rhinestones listener here - right, Nick? Anyone else dabbled? Any great recommendations?

Re: Now Playing
I didn’t wanna say too much before you listened to it, don’t wanna be a hype machine. But this is one of my favorite recent discoveries. The whole album, start to finish, is killer. Country, rockabilly, the groovier side of folk, all here. Plus his lyrics… I don’t know of another artist that would name drop ‘close circuit TV’ as an American trait. In my opinion this is one of the best immigrant songs, ‘America, with all of your beauty, America, lookin so pretty, don’t lock me out, don’t push me about, open up your doors, for me. Beautiful simplicity. This was also a private press so there is almost no info to be found, I think numero has it for sale digitally, no vinyl. As with all private press, if you find the vinyl, buy it.

Looks like there was a reissue a few years back. You can even find it at Walmart.

This understated style of Sade song is somewhat underrated. I love this whole album ("Promise"). The saxophone work throughout is particularly beautiful.

Promise? What do you think of the album cuts there? "Is It A Crime? might be my favorite Sade song and "Sweetest Taboo" is one of their best singles, but I think the overall mood of the album is tremendous. It's such a wonderful, melancholic album about love and relationships. "War of the Hearts", "You're Not the Man", "Mr Wrong", "Punch Drunk", "Fear", "Tar Baby" and "Maureen" are all lovely album tracks/mood pieces.
Love love Sade and this album.
