I saw Paul Johnson DJ more than any other DJ during my rave period.
When I was 18 this was one of my favorite songs.

I could have sworn that Tone Loc died six or seven months ago, but no he's alive and well.

Also, I was sure there was a thread for people you assumed were dead but are not, after much searching I have given up looking for it

I can't explain why I felt terror at the idea that Tone Loc died but I'm glad he didn't yet regardless.

I guess that’s a “people who just died who you’d assumed died years ago,” so like Duff said, glad that isn’t the case for Tone Loc.

This might just be for me but fuck it. Never heard of Andrea Martin until I learned she died this morning but she wrote some important songs in my life.

RIP Meatloaf. His politics sucked but Bat Out of Hell is a fucking great album and was a staple of my childhood since my parents played that in the car quite a bit.

My dad would tell the story of how he saw Meatloaf in concert and after one song he dropped to his knees on the stage and started crying into his red handkerchief. Dad said the crowd was silent for like 3 minutes until Loaf pulled it together.

I think about Meatloaf a lot. Something so cool about how he was able to be an ironic joke and like 100% sincere at the same time… like an Andrew WK for the rock opera era but if Andrew WK was actually a global megastar with #1 hits.

I know nothing of his politics. I am unlikely to look into them.

I’m not a foo fighters fan but I was never actively against them like similarly goofy band red hot peppers. Taylor seemed like a good guy and I can only imagine how Dave Grohl is feeling, they seemed like two of a kind from all interviews I’ve seen/read. RIP

Did not realize the drummer of Foo Fighters was a household name. I’m pretty out of touch, just assumed Grohl was the frontman and the backing band was full of largely unknown or unrecognized players?

I guess I just have no idea what’s going on in the world, lmfao. Thought Foo Fighters weren’t even a popular band nowadays.

Pat Smear is (was? should be?) a musician of note but I mean like who really knows who is in any band anymore I guess
