Did not realize the drummer of Foo Fighters was a household name. I’m pretty out of touch, just assumed Grohl was the frontman and the backing band was full of largely unknown or unrecognized players?
I guess I just have no idea what’s going on in the world, lmfao. Thought Foo Fighters weren’t even a popular band nowadays.
Huh. Nirvana meant so much to me as a youngster that I always kept up with - even though I don't really like - Foo Fighters. The first record was all Dave Grohl, but he brought a band on to tour it - the bassist and drummer from Sunny Day Real Estate and Pat Smear, who (you know this, of course) played with Nirvana and was in the Germs. The drummer from SDRE was kicked out and Taylor Hawkins - who was Alanis Morrissette's touring drummer for the whole Jagged Little Pill thing - was brought on board near the end of The Colour and the Shape. Smear left after Colour - which is also when I stopped listening to their music - and some other dude who was in a band w/ Grohl before Nirvana came on board for a hot second. Then Chris Shifflett - Schiflet? Shiflet? dunno - joined the band soon after that guy left. Chris was in No Use for a Name and Me First & The Gimme Gimmes and he stayed in the band even as Pat Smear returned. I bring all this up because I've always understood the "backing" band of Foo Fighters to be full of real rockstars that joined Dave Grohl in his band, kind of the exact opposite of your understanding. They also sold out 2 nights in a row at Wembley in 08 - which fits something like 100,000 people - and I think they've only become more popular since. Anyway, not trying to disagree with your opinion, and I don't really care about Taylor Hawkins dying, but they're a pretty big band with some pretty notable names beyond Dave Grohl. Reality is, you listen and pay attention to way better music than this so you're not missing out at all.
