Re: NFL Discussion
Based on the multitude of explanations I think it was the correct decision. That being said, I'd be losing my shit if it were Randall Cobb and the call got reversed.

Re: NFL Discussion
I think Dez Bryant made that a tough call. Come down w/ the ball, complete the catch. Maybe his move toward the end zone is a "football move," sure, but it isn't clear that he's in control of the ball before it bounces out. Don't be a hero, make the catch and let your run game pound it in.

When does the ball touch the ground?
For no apparent reason, every replay from the most crucial angles that would answer that question prematurely cuts out.

Re: NFL Discussion
This is easily the worst loss in the history of the team. Worse even than the Super Bowl loss when Holmgren threw the game.
I've never felt such a combo of depression and disbelief after a game. I don't think I'll ever forget the look on my dad's face when this ended.

Re: NFL Discussion
Spent most of my day off just staring out the window and listening to The Beatles. Now the podcasts that are recapping the weekend are coming out so I'll just listen to those to really rub salt in the wound.
I had a complete meltdown after the '07 NFC Championship game where I thought I'd never see another Super Bowl with my dad and I am probably 48-72 hours away from that setting in.

Re: NFL Discussion
Nick, I don't know what to say man.
All I can offer is that, having now re-watched that miracle that occurred from 2:58 onward seven times in real time, it seems to me that we won the game more than the Packers threw it away.
You guys were the better team Sunday and should have won. And with Aaron Rogers leading your squad, I'm confident you and your Dad will be able to enjoy a Packers Superbowl victory in pretty short order.

Re: NFL Discussion
I don't really know how Seattle won that game versus being handed it by Green Bay and the combo of mistakes, poor execution and shitty play calling. Seattle took full advantage but for 55 minutes did nothing and looked hardly like the greatest team in the history of the universe so many media were making them out to be all week.

Re: NFL Discussion
Yeah, the Packers clearly gave it away. Sorry that you had to endure that ending, Nick, but I hope that you can take some comfort from the fact that Green Bay is going to be in contention, like, every year for the immediately foreseeable future. Seriously. Awesome team. They will rise again.

Re: NFL Discussion
I'll be rooting with terrifying enthusiasm for the Seahawks, in two weeks, but unlike in both 2007 and 2011 (when I picked the Giants), I think that the Patriots are likely to win. And handily. I'd sell my soul to be wrong, though.

Re: NFL Discussion
i suppose my team's loss was significantly easier to take, seeing as the colts were not expected to compete and successfully followed through on it. they'll be better next year.

Re: NFL Discussion
I didn't watch the Pats vs Colts game and won't watch the Super Bowl. I fully accept I am not and never will be mature enough to deal with the Packers losing and actually can't fathom watching any sports for a while.
Since the '98 Super Bowl I think I've watched 2 not including 2010. The year the Bears lost to the Colts because I needed to see the Bears lose because I hate them and the year the Pats beat St. Louis because I was at a college party hounding some chick.

Yeah, we looked abyssmal for about 57 minutes. I guess I'm just saying that we completely grabbed every possible opportunity when we had them. Green Bay kept opening the door, and the Seahawks kept opening it more and more.
I agree with that Green Bay lost it more than we won it, but there was definitely a little of both. On the Green Bay ledger: Burnett sliding down on that interception, instead of breaking outside and returning to seal it, not throwing once to challenge one-armed gimp Richard Sherman, running such conservative running shifts in the end of the third in two consecutive series, Clinton Dicks not trying to make some kind of play on that 2-point conversion to Luke Willson. But then on our side: the fake field goal read and the call, Russell's pass to Baldwin in the mid third, the late switch to employing the read option, Russell's incredible across-the-body throw to Willson to convert, the pass to Baldwin to set up the game winner, and then the read and line check call to Kearse to seal the deal.
Your team was all class and grace in defeat, btw. Rogers and McCarthy were totally stand up, made no excuses, and Bostick was a total Mensch.

Hard to determine if "Deflate Gate" or watching grown men get angry at Marshawn Lynch is a more ridiculous story to focus on rather then actual match ups.

Re: NFL Discussion
Feels so good to have NFL back. Love spending my morning following live Twitter updates of Packers practices.
Saw something online yesterday that starting this weekend we will have football every Saturday or Sunday until February 13, 2016.
