Been thinking maybe slowing down on the drinking while you're in this rut wouldn't be a terrible idea. But that's just me observing from the internet, I dunno.

Absolutely. I am drinking WAY too much. Had nine beers at my buddy’s house last weekend on the day when I didn’t drink and stayed sober.

What kind of beer did you drink that day?

Oh, lite garbage. Mostly Miller lites, but snuck a couple Sam Adams in there which counts as beer.

Man, not for me. I drink it at the same pace as I drink beer because it goes down just as easily. Not a good idea with that sort of abv, though I can't recall ever getting really messed up from wine consumption, and I suppose I've sipped at a leisurely pace whenever I've had it at a restaurant. Yeah, wine is a good idea. I changed my mind as I was typing this post

one can definitely sip wine and beer at the same rate, but the more you drink the same wine the harder it is to go down. you naturally start to pace yourself because the natural sweetness and acidity of wine slows you down. i also find that it dries out your mouth more than beer, which also slows it down.

realistically, i never find myself chugging glass after glass of wine.

the hard part is employing this when you go out because wine at bars is so awful and expensive.

Yeah, I usually do wine at restaurants, parties, and at home. Not impossible to get into trouble with it but it tends to be harder.

I wanted to respond to some of this but I was busy at the time and now my incoherent ramblings are even less appropriate than they would have been before. You are all spared.

So on a completely unrelated note, what is your relationship with porn? I've been on a bit of a puritan streak lately and been really questioning my consumption habits. I'm starting to wonder if I'm probably just addicted to Internet porn and just don't want to admit it. I think a lot of men my age are probably in a similar situation though and we have just privately gone about normalizing some potentially harmful sexual practices in our culture. I think those Rashida Jones documentaries were getting at this problem in interesting and disturbing ways.

Who feels comfortable talking about this.

Actually now that I think about it this isn't puritanical it is definitely just a Catholic confessional compulsion.

I'm actually trying to cut out porn at the moment, along with many other unhealthy and tech-attached distractions. It's been nice but I suspect that is partially because I have a person I can text and then go have sex with right after said text. If I were not in this type of "relationship" I think it might prove more difficult to handle. I still watch a vid once or twice a week though.

Consume is a common way of phrasing it so I dunno.

Know nothing about the science surrounding "pornography addiction" but I'm skeptical of its existence. That said, you can overdue anything and if you think it's a problem it's probably a problem.

I just keep scrolling down twitter in some vain hope for an answer that never appears. I should probably just pop on there to put up drawings and announce comics starting now.

I don't think I've posted anything original there in a year, at this point I just like other people's Tweets and almost never retweet anyone else except Barack Obama just to drive up his numbers against you know who.

Never really watched it because I find it to be gross - not ethically, I mean visually. Just seems to repulse me for some reason. Good luck to everyone who's looking to cut down!

I'd say aesthetics is honestly the chief barrier for me. I don't think anyone's catering to my bullshit.

Neither you nor anyone else is under any obligation to follow me, but if that's the reason why, don't worry about it. I mean I'm still following Rainn Wilson for some reason.

I deleted my Twitter a few weeks ago. It’s like a shitty message board with no moderation and no archive function.

I have a Twitter but never use it except in the hour immediately before and after Inter Milan and sometimes Arsenal play. I don't even follow that many people but every time I go on my feed is unimaginably long and I'm inevitably going to miss like 95% of the information and then I just get discouraged and go watch some more porn.

While Twitter has allowed itself to be a forum for racists, Russian bots and other bottom feeders I still use it as my main newsfeed.

I have those I follow down to a few specific lists and don’t find it overly cluttered.

I keep thinking of joining this instead but I've read how it works several times and I clearly just don't understand the concept. I also had an Imzy account but there was never anything to do there and then it just died.
