    http://adequateman.deadspin.com/how-to-be-a-radiohead-fan-without-being-a-dipshit-about-1774870072

I believe that this is a topic worth writing about and actually taking seriously but the author doesn't even know where to start. It lets the most insufferable part of the band's fanbase off the hook because he doesn't even know they exist or what makes them so awful. One could possibly write this without ever having listened to Radiohead at all!

There isn't much thinking going on in that think piece. lol!

4 whatever reason as I was leaving high school all the hippie bros that I would kind of associated with got really into Radiohead and would try to paint them as a stoner band. That always pissed me off. If U aren't going to engage their project on its own terms then shut the fuck up. Nobody is interested in listening to your stupid opinion, which is just a grafting of your shitty and myopic worldview and how it might (but actually does not) relate to Radiohead!

Still pisses me off all these years later...

Sounds like an 18-year-old-marijuana-aficianado kinda thing to do. Which obviously doesn't make it not annoying.

One of them bought a copy of TKOL on vinyl and he claimed that it came with blotter paper to drop acid with and so that really confirmed it 4 everyone. I always thought he was lying but was kind of afraid to figure out 4 sure because if it was true it would have been really fucked up and confusing news 4 me to process.

    Ignorance is bliss.

that's basically what every piece under the Gawker Media umbrella is like these days. lots of opinion and "hot takes" without much interrogation of everything. occasionally there's a really good piece and some of my absolute favorite writers work 4 one of the Gawker sites, but it takes some getting used to.

i consistently get "good morning.... Mr. Magpie..." stuck in my head even though i haven't listened to the song in years and don't remember what half of it sounds like.

I'm that way with "Little By Little." I catch myself mumbling the chorus to that track even though I don't even know all the lyrics.

it's more that the songs mostly just ride out grooves/feel less meticulously structured than most of what they'd done in the past

but yeah i meant acoustic guitars(?)

I listened to this album a bunch of times while I was driving today, and I super duper love Present Tense. Good record all around. I also listened to Blackstar again, and it is still fucking great.

He hated In Rainbows until he got stoned with some college freshman if I recall. I'm sure he'd hate this until drinking coffee while watching rare birds in Wyoming or some shit.

It's really cool how these guys have been able to age alongside their music and I think that is really obvious with this album and even parts of TKOL. Like, they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel anymore and now they R just aging dudes who like to play instruments and make music 4 others. Nothing wrong with that.

The whole think piece nature of music is actually just really sad. It has totally ruined my appreciation and ability to even approach most shit. I had to become a 22 year old curmudgeon about it because I just feel like I've exhausted every possibility and now I just now what it is that I like and can't be bothered by other shit because I know it doesn't matter and that band won't exist in like five days anyway so why would I waste my fucking time.

And so Radiohead is unique in that way because more than any other band they have been victimized by this blog culture so that everything they ever do and say is analyzed and picked apart. They R still doing it, of course, because somehow "Burn The Witch" is their commentary on the refugee crisis. Thanks Pitchfork. But they just do a very good job of remaining very grounded and not allowing that stuff to ever stick to them.

    This post sucks. Sorry.

I like this album a lot. This Radiohead album, I mean. Part of the attraction to Radiohead - 4 me - has been the maze of it all. The lyrics and artwork and websites that add up to some sort of riddle that needs solving. But I could never really solve that riddle even though I enjoyed trying. This record sounds like an uncoiling, like something relaxing. On this album, Radiohead sounds like a band and not a collection of anxieties and in-jokes way smarter than I am. On this album, they're like the absolute best version of The National: sincere, inward, and honest, but actually w/ something to say.

I never got Chance the Rapper and think he is just a stupid millennial version of Kanye West, which is to say he is just a dumber version.
